Did Lindsay Clancy's Own Trial Just Break Her?

Did Lindsay Clancy's Own Trial Just Break Her?

Lindsay Clancy told a Plymouth Superior Court courtroom she couldn't do it. She was sobbing at the defense table as a medical examiner described the autopsy findings for her five-year-old daughter. The judge halted proceedings. Her father wept in the gallery. Some members of the jury were crying.

Clancy has pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree murder. She admits to killing her children Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, but argues postpartum psychosis and overmedication are at the center of what happened in their Duxbury home in January 2023. Prosecutors allege the killings were intentional.

Defense attorney Kevin Reddington did not ask the autopsy witness a single question. He stayed at the table holding his client's shoulder while she wept. The jury watched all of it.

Criminal defense trial attorney Bob Motta was inside that courtroom. He breaks down what happens to a defendant after three weeks of trial testimony, what the jury's reactions are telling him, and whether Lindsay Clancy's visible anguish is devastating the prosecution's argument that she acted rationally.
