Can We Still Read? Rebuild your attention in the Age of AI

AI can summarise a 300-page book in seconds, but what happens to our ability to concentrate, think deeply and stay with a book?

Only 28% of adults in Singapore read books weekly, according to an NLB study.

Now, the National Library Board is launching ReadSG, a five-year national movement aimed at turning reading into an everyday habit - complete with challenges and incentives for putting in the minutes.

Melissa Tam, Chief Executive Officer of NLB, joins Michelle Martin to discuss whether our reading habits are being reshaped by the digital world, why sustained reading still matters in the age of AI, how parents can raise readers, and the simple ways we can rebuild our “reading muscle.”
