SR020 - Part 1: Clarkie in the House: Whiskey, VHS & Rock & Roll

Justin “Clarkie” Clark is in the house — and it doesn't take long for Episode 20 to go completely off the rails.

In Part 1, we catch up after a busy weekend of live music, talk about getting older when simply jumping off a stage or climbing down from something suddenly requires a dismount strategy, and hear about Clarkie's illustrious karaoke career — including the time he dressed up as Billy Joel for a competition.

For the Pour of the Week, we're keeping it local with Continental Cherry Corn Whiskey from Homer City, PA. At 90 proof, the cherry-infused whiskey gets a surprisingly enthusiastic response from a guy who claims he doesn't even like whiskey.

Then an old VHS tape sends us down the ultimate nostalgia rabbit hole. We remember when Friday night meant actually driving to the video store, wandering the aisles, fighting over new releases, renting VHS tapes from grocery stores and convenience stores, paying late fees, and — of course — getting charged because somebody forgot to BE KIND, REWIND.

We remember the old-school popcorn makers with the butter melting through the top, the disappointment of ending up with a soggy bowl, Jiffy Pop, microwave popcorn, stovetop popcorn, and the questionable trick of putting a cup of water in the microwave first to supposedly make better popcorn. By the end of it, one thing is clear: WET POPCORN SUCKS!
