7 July 2022 | A fine line between bratty and funny

All eyes were on Aussie tennis star Nick Kyrgios this week as he stormed through to the semi-finals at Wimbledon with a storm of controversy surrounding his every move.

Most notable, of course, was the news that he would face court over allegations that he assaulted his ex-girlfriend last year. Now, because that matter is before the court, we don’t intend to get into that on the podcast.

Instead, we focus on his on-court behaviour and the run-ins he’s had with reporters over in the UK and his fellow players. Where does he sit on the spectrum of loveable rascal or straight out brat?

Back in Australia, Anthony Albanese returned from his diplomatic mission to Ukraine to a swathe of criticism about being away while New South Wales struggled with another round of historic floods. Was the criticism warranted or are the Liberal Party just looking to stay relevant?

And finally, it's the news no one wanted to hear. Covid is back on the agenda. Omicron has another two strains and they're particularly bad ones in BA.4 and BA.5. But what does it mean for Aussies? Fourth vaccine doses have been approved for Aussies aged 30 and over, but will you rush out to get one?
