Welcome to our full Madrid P1 Recap!

The second half of the Premier Padel season started with one of the craziest tournaments of 2026.

Chingotto and Galán leave Madrid with another massive result in the World No. 1 race. Coki Nieto and Mike Yanguas immediately prove their new partnership is real. Coello and Tapia suffer a shocking quarterfinal defeat. Lebrón and Augsburger completely underperform. Gonza Alfonso and Tino Libaak explode onto the scene.

And somehow the women’s draw might have been even crazier.

👑 CHINGALAN REIGN SUPREME IN MADRID

Fede Chingotto and Ale Galán deliver another huge result in Madrid and do serious damage in the race for World No. 1.

Their road included Patiniotis and García, Esbrí and Sanyo, an incredible three set battle with Paquito and Di Nenno, Jofre and Bautista, and finally Coki Nieto and Mike Yanguas.

Galán also plays a Madrid final featuring two Madrid born players for the first time alongside Coki.

But there is a bigger question:

Did Chingalan fully capitalize even though they never had to personally beat Coello and Tapia?

And most importantly…

Who was your MVP?

🚀 COKI & YANGUAS ARE REAL

First Premier Padel final together.

And they did it by taking out Coello and Tapia 7–5, 7–6 in the quarterfinals.

It was the World No. 1 pair’s first quarterfinal loss since May 2025.

The tactical plan was fascinating.

Coki and Yanguas deliberately attacked Tapia’s volley. Mike displaced Tapia and opened the middle. Coki became more aggressive overhead. And their coaching box told them to stop waiting for mistakes and start creating the points themselves.

They entered the final with an 0–6 record against Chingalan.

But after Madrid…

Are Coki and Yanguas already closer to the number three team in the world than number five?

🚨 MADRID DISASTER FOR LEBURGER

Haroon and Ismaeel picked Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger to WIN Madrid.

They did not even make the quarterfinals.

LeBurger lose 7–6, 7–5 to Gonza Alfonso and Tino Libaak in the Round of 16.

Lebrón even admitted during the match that they were not creating enough.

Instead of matching their power, Gonza slowed everything down, changed the rhythm, and forced LeBurger to generate their own attack.

At hat point does the concern become real?

And is their position as the clear number three team officially under threat?

🇦🇷 GONZA & LIBAAK GO OFF

Beat Bergamini and Garrido.

Beat Lebrón and Augsburger.

Come from behind against Abbate and Rodríguez.

Reach the semifinals.

And even against Coki and Yanguas, they had seven set points in the second set.

Gonza manipulated the speed of the match while Tino attacked the spaces he created.

Should this partnership stay together for the rest of 2026?

And did both players just play themselves into Argentina’s World Cup team?

🧠 HAS PAQUITO BROUGHT BACK PRIME DI NENNO?

Martín Di Nenno looks different.

Paquito Navarro and Di Nenno continue showing signs that this reunion could become much more dangerous than expected.

Meanwhile Coki and Yanguas reached a final immediately after their previous partnership struggled to convert semifinal opportunities, while Stupa and Sanz exited Madrid in the Round of 16.

Were we blaming Coki and Yanguas too much for what went wrong before?

👏 MADRID HONORABLE MENTIONS

Jofre and Bautista reach their first Premier Padel semifinal after surviving one of the wildest quarterfinals of the year.

They failed to convert five match points during a 16–14 second set tiebreak…

…and STILL recovered to win the third.

Flavio Abbate also becomes the first Italian man to reach a Premier Padel quarterfinal, alongside Rodríguez after knocking out Leal and Guerrero.

And Madrid also marked an emotional moment for the sport as Alejandra Salazar announced her retirement from padel.

🌶️ SPICY NO SPICY

Gonza Alfonso challenged a missed smash against Yanguas and Nieto after the ball touched Yanguas before hitting the ground.

The call was overturned.

Good use of video review or are we getting too technical?

👑 TRIAY & BREA CONQUER MADRID

Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea beat Bea González and Paula Josemaría 6–7, 6–3, 6–3 to win Madrid.

Sixth title of the season.

Fifth consecutive final.

Gemma reaches 200 Premier Padel victories.

And after their London defeat to Calvo and Fernández, they immediately remind everyone why they remain the most consistent force on the women’s tour.

Is consistency the biggest thing separating Gemma and Delfi from everybody chasing them?

🤯 COMEBACK OF THE YEAR OR CHOKE OF THE YEAR?

This one might hurt for a long time.

Calvo and Fernández led Bea and Paula:

5–0 in the deciding set.

Then at 5–3… 40–0. Three consecutive match points. They still lost 7–5.

Bea stayed positive.

Paula became more aggressive.

Claudia stopped stepping forward with the same conviction.

And suddenly seven straight games were gone.

So who deserves more of the story?

Bea and Paula for an unbelievable comeback… or Calvo and Fernández for an unbelievable collapse?

And does a loss like this make a young team stronger?

Or leave a scar?

🧨 OVERREACTION OR NOT?

Coki and Yanguas are closer to being the No. 3 team than the No. 5 team.

The loss to Bea and Paula will haunt Calvo and Fernández for the rest of the season.

Gonza Alfonso should make Argentina’s World Cup team.

The Madrid men’s final was the best men’s final of 2026.

🇫🇷 PARIS MAJOR PREVIEW

And there is basically no time to recover.

The Paris Major is next.

Potential chaos includes:

Coello and Tapia potentially getting Gonza and Libaak almost immediately.

Paquito and Di Nenno potentially meeting Stupa and Sanz in the quarterfinals.

Possible semifinals:

LeBurger vs Coello and Tapia

Chingalan vs Stupa and Sanz

Madrid changed the hierarchy.

Paris could blow it up again.

✅ WHERE WE WERE RIGHT & WRONG

Men:

Haroon and Ismaeel picked LeBurger.

Yousef picked Chingalan.

Women:

Haroon and Ismaeel picked Calvo and Fernández.

Yousef picked Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea.

Receipts are getting pulled.

🎯 WHO WINS THE PARIS MAJOR?

Men’s champion.

Women’s champion.

And which Madrid overreaction is most likely to become reality?

👇 DROP YOUR TAKE

Are Chingalan genuinely back in the World No. 1 race?

Are Coki and Yanguas already a Top 3 level partnership?

And was the Calvo and Fernández loss the biggest choke of the entire season?

Halfway through 2026, the padel season looks VERY different from what we predicted. Chingalan’s No. 1 hopes, LeBurger’s ceiling, surprise teams, disappointments, breakups… and the biggest questions are still unanswered.

🏆 BEST STORY OF 2026 SO FAR

Every season has the teams that win the most.

But sometimes the best story has nothing to do with who is World No. 1.

We pick the player or team whose journey has made the first half of 2026 special.

🤯 BIGGEST SURPRISE

Which player or partnership completely exceeded expectations?

Was it a young team exploding onto the scene? A veteran resurgence? Or a partnership nobody expected to become a genuine threat?

📉 BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT

There were some HUGE expectations coming into 2026.

Not everyone delivered.

We debate which player or team has fallen furthest below what we expected before the season started.

🔮 REVISITING OUR BIGGEST PREDICTIONS

Time to pull out the receipts.

Chingalan will finish World No. 1.

How are we feeling about that one now?

LeBurger will challenge Coello and Tapia more than anyone else.

Have Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger actually lived up to that expectation?

Sanyo and Gonza will make the Barcelona Masters Final.

We revisit one of the wildest predictions from before the season.

👀 WHAT ARE WE MOST EXCITED FOR?

New partnerships. Young players emerging. The World No. 1 race. World Cup selections. And potentially another transfer window full of chaos.

What is THE storyline we cannot wait to watch during the second half of 2026?

⚔️ WHO FINISHES WORLD NO. 4?

This race could get fascinating.

Stupa and Sanz vs Yanguas and Nieto vs Guerrero and Leal

Which partnership finishes the season as the fourth best team in the world?

👑 WHEN WILL WORLD NO. 1 BE DECIDED?

Does the fight between Coello and Tapia and Chingotto and Galán survive all the way to the Barcelona Finals?

Or will one team have already killed the race before we even get there?

👇 Drop one second half prediction in the comments so we can come back to it at the end of the season.

🇪🇸 WHO YA GOT: MADRID P1
