Liverpool's Anfield Problem: It's Worse Than You Think!

The numbers don't lie – and Liverpool have an early Anfield problem that Andoni Iraola needs to solve. On the first episode of Numbers Don't Lie, Dave Davis is joined by Michael Reid to dig into the data behind Liverpool's frustrating 0-0 draw with Fulham and assess the early statistical trends emerging under their new head coach. Liverpool were outrun by more than six kilometres by Fulham after the exertions of the Atletico Madrid game, but the more concerning numbers come in attack. Dave and Michael examine Liverpool's lack of touches inside the opposition penalty area and why two of their five lowest totals in an Anfield league game across the last five seasons have now occurred in Iraola's first two home league matches. But there are positives – and none bigger than Jeremy Jacquet. The 21-year-old produced another outstanding display, leading the game for touches, successful passes and line-breaking passes while dominating his defensive duels and helping Liverpool record consecutive clean sheets.
