Unity In Metal: HUMAN CONDITION Prepare To Drop Debut EP

Words and interview by Aysha Swanson
On Sunday, October 11, Sunshine Coast hardcore outfit Human Condition will return to Nambour Bowls Club for the launch of their debut EP S.C.H.C., bringing TwoSeventy, No Harm, Blatant Saint, Asbestos and Doping Control to the stage. Best of all, the whole thing is free and all ages. For Human Condition, S.C.H.C. represents the end of a long wait. The band have been playing together since 2024, with these songs existing in their live set long before they were committed to record. Finally having them ready to release is understandably exciting, even if there are some nerves attached.
“I’m just so excited to get it out, you know, after so long and, you know, having just little setbacks and to get in and finally get it out is so cool,” the band explains.
That anticipation has been matched by a recording process that became a learning experience in itself. S.C.H.C. was recorded and mixed by Harry from Scram, who helped the band navigate their first proper release while giving them space to figure out what Human Condition should sound like on record. “It’s been really fun and a big learning curve,” they explain.
The EP arrives through Fortify Records, with Nick from the label playing a significant role in pushing the band towards finally getting it done. After first encountering Human Condition at a show, Nick continued backing the band and eventually approached them about releasing their music. For Human Condition, that support represents something bigger than simply having a label behind them.
“The community in hardcore is just unreal,” they say. “Everyone just backs each other. Everyone wants to support each other. Everyone wants to uplift each other.”
That sense of community runs through the band's understanding of the Sunshine Coast scene, particularly Nambour. Human Condition credit the work of local promoters and bands with helping turn the town into a genuine destination for heavier music, where hardcore, punk and metal audiences overlap rather than existing in separate scenes. The band have also experienced that support further afield, with Brisbane's WetWork and Sydney's Scram among those they credit with helping and inspiring them. For a young band, those relationships have become just as important as the shows themselves.
Now, S.C.H.C. is finally ready to leave the live room and exist properly in the world. Released Friday, October 2 via Fortify Records, the EP marks the beginning of a new chapter for Human Condition.
