Having concluded his remarkable 21-year international career with an emotional farewell match against Benin in Buenos Aires, Messi is now set to resume his club commitments in the United States, where Inter Miami CF will take on D.C. United on Saturday, October 10, 2026.

Additionally, the University of Buenos Aires bestowed upon Messi an honorary doctorate at the Argentine Football Association (AFA) headquarters prior to kickoff.

Visibly moved throughout the occasion—shedding tears on the team bus and during pre-match ceremonies—Messi conveyed heartfelt appreciation for his nation.
Reflecting on his 20+ years representing Argentina with immense pride, Messi shared a touching farewell message that captured his profound affection for his country.
