"WE WANT LARKIN"...in Montreal? and Edvinsson Standoff Continues - Oct. 11th, 2026

Red Wings vs. Kraken & Canadiens recaps: Detroit blows a lead in a 6-3 loss, then falls 1-0 in a shootout. This Detroit Red Wings podcast also covers Simon Edvinsson's contract standoff & Bell Centre fans chanting for Dylan Larkin amid his trade request.

(00:00) - Intro

Wild times in the world of Hockeytown - is this Detroit's "gas leak" season?

(04:00) - Kraken & Canadiens Losses

William Wallinder and Michael Brandsegg-Nygard score their first NHL goals, but the Red Wings melted down and, as Todd McLellan put it, "the team got lazy and complacent". On the second night of the back-to-back, Daniil Tarasov is perfect through regulation, overtime and five shootout rounds while three goals get taken off the board, and Detroit still couldn't score.

(24:10) - Nate Danielson & Shootout Choice

Discussion on the offensive vs. defensive value of the Andrew Copp line. Also, Nate Danielson is playing without any confidence, and the hosts split on sending him out for the sixth round of the shootout.

(35:50) - "We Want Larkin" Chant

There's no playbook for a home crowd chanting for the visiting team's former captain while he's asking out of Detroit. Why Michael Hage isn't on the table, why Dylan Larkin likely isn't heading north of the border, & why Todd McLellan shut down questions about the distraction.

(43:30) - Simon Edvinsson Contract Watch

A report says Simon Edvinsson still prefers a trade while the Red Wings say they want to sign him, with a December 1 deadline looming. Why $10 million, just 9.62% of this year's cap, is the overpay worth making, and why Utah is the rumored front-runner if it comes to a trade.

(01:01:00) - Shesterkin Injury & Gibson Trade

With Igor Shesterkin out for the season, the hosts argue Detroit should call the Rangers about John Gibson now, likely for around a second-round pick.

(01:04:25) - Overtime Mailbag

Patrons ask how far Detroit has to sink before management acts, and one prediction is that they stand pat until a Justin Faulk trade for a second at the deadline. Plus, the top power play unit, why a $77 million, seven-year offer sheet for Edvinsson would cost four first-round picks, and whether trading him makes sense.
