Alex Murdaugh and Sandra Birchmore: Which Officers Knew Before Anyone Else?

Alex Murdaugh is heading to an April 2027 retrial, and Matthew Farwell is on trial in Boston for Sandra Birchmore's death. Former prosecutor Eric Faddis joins me to break down both.

Murdaugh's defense can now test unidentified DNA from Maggie Murdaugh's fingernails and phone, and it wants answers about a police officer friend who, the defense says, prosecutors suggested reached the scene early. Prosecutors won't say whether a grand jury exists.

In the Birchmore case, prosecutors say Farwell learned of a friend's January 20, 2021 call to Stoughton police before Sandra died. His DNA, they say, was on the strap. The officers who first investigated testified about what they skipped. And the chief who exposed them is suing over a report she says she was told to destroy, which Thomas Calter denies.
