My Worst Date EVER !
I have a recorded version of my LIVE Valentine's Day Night Show, and I'm chopping it up to use for various upcoming episodes. In this episode: I tell you the story of my Worst Date EVER in 1981 on Valentine's Day itself. This was when I was working as a Funeral Director and Embalmer, and that back-drop makes for a story that you won't soon forget! Vacationing Alone
Many of us older gay guys are single, and as we age, we might lose contact with friends through relocation, illness, death, arguments; a host of reasons. And that can lead to isolation and eventual depression. One of the ways that I have dealt with loneliness over the years, is that I learned how to travel by myself and enjoy the experiences many times more than if I had a traveling companion. Now traveling alone for some, is a very strange concept. Why would you want to be alone? Isn't the point of traveling to be able to enjoy the location, sights, dinners, memories etc. with someone else? Maybe. But what if you don't have a boyfriend/husband or friends that want to travel to some of the exotic places you always dreamed of going? Should you wait until you have a partner to travel with? (We aren't getting any younger!) Or, do we have to give up on ever going to those places? I want to tell you about a few of my experiences with circling the globe alone and the self-sufficiency I learned along the way.

Being The Third Wheel
Don't you hate it when one of your closest friends, maybe even your BEST friend, gets into a relationship with a guy and suddenly you don't hear from him as often, or hang out with him as often? And then you find yourself being invited out with the new couple, and you become the dreaded '3rd wheel'. That sucks. Even worse, what if all your friends in your immediate social circle are in relationships and you are the only one left single? So when you go out, you are the.....11th wheel? 19th? How do you possibly navigate that?!? Let's discuss ! Don't miss An Older Gay Guy Show LIVE Interactive Show, the 'I HATE/LOVE Valentine's Day Show' on Valentine's Day NIGHT, February 14, 2019 from 10:00 pm - 12 Midnight, Eastern Standard Time (7:00 - 9:00 pm West Coast, 12 noon - 2:00 pm on Friday in Australia) More info on the LIVE Show will be coming next week.

Why Are Young Gay Guys Such Dickwads ?
The first episode of Season 4 comes via an email I received from a very nice gentleman in Australia. It has prompted a discussion on why young gay guys are so unkind and mean. As always, this is based on my opinions and my experience. I hope it can prompt some thoughts. The Vintage TV Trivia Question of the week is a fun reflection on The Dick Van Dyke Show from the 1960's. I am looking for guests for this season. If you feel you have a story to tell that relates to the older gay community, please contact me and let me know you'd like to come on. It is a pre-recorded interview that can be edited, so please have no fears about doing the show. It will be fun and relaxing. Contact me via: AnOlderGayGuyShow@gmail.com

INTERVIEW - The Latest in Cosmetic Work for Guys with Kris Venezia - Part Two
This year's Sweeps Period concludes with the 2nd Part of my conversation with Kris Venezia about what is new in the areas of cosmetic work available for guys. This is not a suggestion or endorsement for you to run out and get cosmetic work, but for many older guys, especially those who have suffered from the effects of HIV and the powerful drugs that are taken to keep it at bay, this information is important. With some, it could even be life-saving, as the depression and isolation people often feel can take its toll on the psyche. In this second half, we discuss Cool Sculpting, Gastric Bypass and Hair Pieces (and those in Hollywood that wear them!) So sit back and enjoy this insider's look at the world of cosmetic work. ** This Sunday, September 30, 2018, is International Podcast Day and will be the announcement of the Winners of the 13th Annual People's Choice Podcast Awards. I am Nominated for 2 Podcast Awards: The LGBTQ Podcast Award and the Mature Podcast Award. Please tune-in LIVE on Sunday at 8:00 pm Eastern Time (5:00 pm Pacific Time) for the Announcement of the Winners. Go to PodcastAwards.com to view the Awards LIVE. Thanks !!! **

Self-Doubt vs. Confidence - Impostor Syndrome
At the request of a listener from British Columbia, Canada regarding his self-doubt as he takes a new position running a sports team, we look at two self-esteem philosophies: The Peter Principle and Impostor Syndrome. Now while these theories can be viewed as a negative source of esteem, when coupled with a more applicable and positive method of coping with self-esteem that we talk about in the second half of today's episode, we can assess our self-doubt easier when looking at this subject from various points of view. The episode concludes with a basic tenant of success that we can all apply in times of indecision and uncertainty. A Vintage TV Trivia Question is posed at the start of the show and the answer is given in the concluding minutes of the podcast. Thanks so much for joining me today ! - Joey

Getting Outside Yourself
This serious episode is the second half of my series on Depression that started with the episode 'Depression: Emotional Eating'. Today I tell you about the serious danger that I was in due to depression after my parent's deaths. I discuss how my depression first surfaced, plans I had made to take my own life and treatment that I sought out to deal with my issues of grief. But most importantly, I talk about revelations I had during this process that allowed me to view the world in a different way, that ultimately has brought me to the better place I am in these last 20 years or so. This episode is my personal experiences and opinions. Do not view this as any kind of therapy or professional guidance. If you feel you are depressed or if you ever have suicidal thoughts, please seek out professional help. I have been able to overcome my grief and relationship issues only through professional therapy and prescribed medications. This show is only my personal opinions.
