Today, we're discussing Severus Snape, spell creation, and his famous dark curse 'Sectumsempra'.Under the moniker the 'Half-Blood Prince' Severus Snape scribbled all sorts of spells and curses in to his Advanced Potion Making textbook. But perhaps none were more dangerous or powerful than Sectumsempra- a spell that we got to see on display in totality during Harry and Draco's 1997 duel in the sixth floor boys bathroom. And when Harry first takes Slughorn's potion class, he's fortunate enough to find the very same textbook that a young, troubled Snape once jotted pure gold in to."This book is the property of the Half Blood Prince"Harry uses the book for quite a while, as for each and every one of Slughorn's lessons, the book provided easier and clearer instructions that he could follow. The book was like having cheat codes to all of the potions lessons. But inside the book was not just advice on how to make potions or perfect existing spells, there were also spells written inside that were totally new to Harry. Spells like Sectumsempra. More specifically, we'll be diving in to WHY the Potter family were excluded from this 'exclusive' list.Let's start with the most obvious question: What is The Sacred Twenty-Eight? Well, as you may already know, it's actually more a question of WHO, rather than WHAT. Alright, so WHO exactly are they and how did they come to be? The Sacred Twenty-Eight is a "Pure-Blood Directory" of the wizarding world's supposed most pure-blooded magical families - which is to say, the witches and wizards whose ancestors had not "muddied" their blood lines with Muggle integration. A 'Pure-blood' was classified as a witch or wizard who had no muggles, squibs, muggle-borns or half-bloods in their family tree.But while the list does indeed account for 28 pure-blood wizarding families, it's worth noting that one of the most FAMOUS surnames in Harry Potter- you guessed it..POTTER- is excluded from the list. And when I say 'fly', I mean they're able to project themselves through the air without the use of a traditional flying device, such as a broom. Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're going to be discussing WHAT HAPPENS to the wands of Witches/Wizards AFTER they die. Now, quite early on in the story we're introduced to the idea that the bond between a witch/wizard and their wand is very special indeed. In fact, wand and wand owner are said to share an almost symbiotic relationship. From the day they first step foot in to Ollivander's wand shop, many witches and wizards are paired with the wand that they will keep for their entire life- the wand that they form a real connection with. As wands are quasi-sentient, they possess the ability to 'choose the wizard' rather than the other way around, which is why wands are a very personal item. 'The Wand Chooses the wizard, Mr. Potter'So- provided that wands are such a highly PERSONALIZED item, I think it makes perfect sense to ask: what happens to the wand AFTER the wizard dies?
