217: Breana Noojin Nix- Murder or Overdose?

TRIGGER WARNING: murder, drug abuse, opiate use and overdose, domestic abuse Want this episode Ad-Free: Join our Patreon for as little as $3/month and get all episodes Ad-Free! On Monday, March 2, 2020, Steven Nix called his sister-in-law, Brittany Noojin, at work. He nonchalantly told her that her sister had tried to kill herself, and that she should come over. Brittany arrived at her sister’s home to find that first responders were stopping resuscitation efforts and pronouncing her 32-year-old sister, Breana Noojin Nix, dead. The autopsy stated that it was an accidental death caused by an overdose of the opiate Fentanyl. Breana’s family was stunned. The beautiful, bright, ICU nurse was not a drug user and had never expressed thoughts of suicide. Less than six months later, Breana’s husband, Steven, had his ex-girlfriend move into his home and was living comfortably off the money paid to him from Breana’s life insurance policy. By this time, the Noojin family knew that Breana’s death was not an accident and strongly believed that Steven was behind it. Police, however, supported the ruling of accidental death, forcing the Noojin family to start their own investigation into what was so obviously the MURDER of Breana Noojin Nix. 216: [Missing] Maura Murray- Part 2

On Monday, February 9th, 2004, 21-year-old University of Massachusetts nursing student, Maura Murray, crashed her vehicle into a snowbank in Haverhill, New Hampshire. A neighbor called 911, while another neighbor stopped to offer help. Maura, appearing uninjured, declined help, and the neighbor drove off. Approximately 7 minutes later, when police arrived, Maura had disappeared. She has never been seen or heard from since. 18 years later, the disappearance of Maura Murray has turned into one of the greatest debated mysteries in the world of true crime. 214: Alonzo Brooks

214: Alonzo Brooks

On April 3rd, 2004, 23-year-old Alonzo Brooks left his home in Gardner, Kansas, and told his mother, Maria, he was headed to a party with friends. That was the last time she’d see her son alive. Less than 24 hours later, Maria tried to file a missing persons report on her son in La Cygne, Kansas, about an hour away from their home. Alonzo’s friends who’d given him a ride to the party somehow left without him, at a party in a small town, where he was one of only three people of color in attendance. 27 days after Alonzo went missing, his family found his body on a creekbed, not far from the farmhouse where the party had been. Strangely enough, his body wasn’t hidden, and the area had been searched multiple times before, with no signs of Alonzo. His manner of death was initially ruled as “undetermined” and closed by the KBI, stating there was no evidence of a homicide. Alonzo’s family has continued to fight to prove that he was the victim of a hate crime and that his murderers are still walking free.  Want access to our first 45 episodes? Grab em here! 213: West Memphis Three

213: West Memphis Three

On May 5th, 1993 three 8 year old boys were reported missing by their parents.  An initial search that night didn’t find the boys, but the following day, a more thorough search of areas that the boys were known to play and hang out was carried out and the bodies of Stevie Branch, Chris Byers, and Michael Moore were discovered.  With very little actual evidence, three teens were arrested and found guilty of the murders.  They spent years in prison before being released, and are still fighting to this day to clear their names.  The state of Arkansas refuses to acknowledge any wrongdoing, and lets the true killer or killers walk free.  Want access to our first 45 episodes? 211: Child Murderer Jon Dunkle

211: Child Murderer Jon Dunkle

In the 1980’s, two small towns in California were shocked when two 12-year-old boys were brutally murdered. No physical evidence had been left at the crime scene and nobody knew who would want to hurt these two boys. With the help of witnesses and a sketch artist, investigators were able to connect their deaths to the disappearance of a 15-year-old boy. The suspect in question was Jon Dunkle. Despite the ease of connecting the three crimes and identifying Dunkle as a likely suspect in all three cases, Dunkle was unlike any other criminal the investigators had dealt with before. It would be years before detectives were able to finally to arrest 26-year-old Dunkle, who had been referred to as “The Peninsula Serial Killer.” Want access to our first 45 episodes? Grab em here! 210: Donna Scrivo- Mothers who Murder

In January of 2014, body parts were found scattered along the frozen landscape in China Township, Michigan.  Authorities identified the body as Ramsay Scrivo, who had been reported missing by his mother Donna.  With no known enemies, detectives were at a loss until bits and pieces of evidence began to point to one person, Ramsay’s own mother, Donna Scrivo.
