The co-heads of DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran, announced a new series "Paradise Lost" for HBO Max, which will be an origin story for the legendary island of Themyscira aka Paradise Island, the home of the Amazons. The series will be set before Wonder Woman's birth and will explore the "darkness and drama and political intrigue" behind the society of women in a "Game of Thrones-type story." James Gunn and Peter Safran have announced a new Swamp Thing film, part of a fresh slate of DC projects. The movie will delve into the dark origins of the character and feature other DC characters as well. The film will be more horrific in nature but will still have Swamp Thing interact with other characters. Swamp Thing was previously seen on the small screen in a short-lived TV series and in a 1982 film directed by Wes Craven. DC has announced plans to adapt the comic book series "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" into a movie. The movie will be led by James Gunn and Peter Safran and will offer a different perspective on Supergirl compared to past adaptations. The comic book series follows Supergirl as she is approached by an alien girl whose planet has been destroyed and who is seeking revenge. Fox’s Animation Domination lineup including Bob’s Burgers, The Simpsons, and Family Guy, has been renewed for two more seasons each, through 2025. The renewals will keep The Simpsons as the longest-running scripted series on TV history, covering seasons 35 and 36. Bob’s Burgers and Family Guy will cover seasons 14 and 15 and 22 and 23, respectively. Fox’s president of scripted programming, Michael Thorn, praised the “enduring power” of the animation genre and the “infinite fan affinity” for these shows. The younger sibling of these three shows, The Great North, was renewed for a fourth season in August and is expected to be safe for the future. The DCEU Press Event was held by Warner Bros. on Monday and provided fans with updates on the future of the superhero franchise. The co-chairmen and CEOs of DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran, confirmed the new project, “The Brave and the Bold,” which will introduce the new DCU Batman. This Batman will not be played by Ben Affleck or Robert Pattinson, who starred in previous Batman movies. The film is focused on Damian Wayne, Bruce Wayne’s son, who was raised as an assassin and is described as a “little son of a bitch.” The film will also feature other members of the extended Bat Family who have been left out of recent Batman movies.

Amazon Studios has hired Phoebe Waller-Bridge to write a TV series as part of a potential “Tomb Raider” franchise that would include TV, film, and games. Waller-Bridge could also be involved in a potential movie. The TV series will be produced by Amazon Studios’ former Head of Comedy Ryan Andolina and Amanda Greenblatt, with Legendary also said to be involved. This is part of Amazon’s multi-platform approach which also includes a new “Tomb Raider” single-player game. The “Tomb Raider” franchise was previously held by MGM but is now owned by Amazon Studios, which is handling the film-TV universe and not MGM. The franchise was previously made into a movie series with Angelina Jolie and a reboot with Alicia Vikander, but a sequel had been delayed by the pandemic.
