Batman: Caped Crusader Announces Hamish Linklater as the New Voice of Batman

Prime Video has just unveiled that Hamish Linklater will be the new voice of Batman in the highly anticipated animated series, "Batman: Caped Crusader." Fans got their first taste of his portrayal in a new clip released today, showcasing his take on the iconic Dark Knight.

This new series is a continuation of the beloved Bruce Timm and Paul Dini animated series, which set the standard for Batman animations. With the passing of Kevin Conroy, who had become the definitive voice of Batman since "Batman: The Animated Series," there was a significant void to fill. Hamish Linklater steps into this role with a deep understanding of the legacy and expectations that come with it.

Series creators J.J. Abrams, Bruce Timm, and Matt Reeves are thrilled to return to Gotham City. "We are beyond excited to be working together to bring this character back, to tell engrossing new stories in Gotham City," Timm, Abrams, and Reeves stated. "The series will be thrilling, cinematic, and evocative of Batman's noir roots, while diving deeper into the psychology of these iconic characters. We cannot wait to share this new world."

Prime Video is equally enthusiastic about hosting this revival series. Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon and MGM Studios, emphasized the impact of the original series: "Batman: The Animated Series helped pioneer the evolution of superhero storytelling and defined the Dark Knight for a generation. Batman: Caped Crusader will no doubt continue that tradition and, alongside Merry Little Batman and Bat-Family, we're thrilled to collaborate with Warner Bros. Animation to offer a variety of takes on the Batman mythos to our global Prime Video customers."

Sam Register, president of Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios, echoed this excitement: "We are excited to partner with Amazon to begin an all-new animated chapter of Batman. From the cinematic noir storytelling of Batman: Caped Crusader to the comedic adventures of Merry Little Batman and Bat-Family, these new projects ensure that there will be an animated Batman story ready to excite fans of all ages."

Stay tuned for more updates on "Batman: Caped Crusader" as it gears up to bring a fresh yet familiar take on the Dark Knight to screens everywhere.

Blizzard’s Lawsuit with Netflix Axes Major Game Adaptations

Blizzard fans were left disappointed after learning that planned Netflix adaptations of StarCraft, Overwatch, and Diablo were canceled due to a legal battle between Blizzard and Netflix. The dispute began when Blizzard sued Netflix for poaching its Chief Financial Officer, Spencer Neumann, in 2019. Fans were particularly excited about the potential for an Overwatch animated series, given the game's successful character-driven shorts. While Warcraft was left out of the canceled projects due to the poor reception of its 2016 film, other major franchises lost their shot at streaming success. Despite this, Blizzard continues to focus on supporting current titles like Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 while prepping the release of StarCraft: Remastered on Game Pass.
