Mandela Day Eighth Sunday after Pentecost COLLECT O God, You sent your Son to heal and to bring peace; give use the stillness that restores our spirits and the grace that brings healing through Jesus Christ our lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen THE GOSPEL according to Mark 6: 30-34, 53-56 30 The apostles gathered around Jesus, and told him what they had done and taught. 31 He said to them, “Come away to a deserted place by yourselves and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat. 33 Now many people saw them going and recognised them, and they hurried there on foot from all the towns and arrived ahead of them. 34 As he went ashore, he saw a great crowd; and he had compassion for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things. PRAYER IN THE TIME OF COVID Author of life, Saviour of the nations COVID is humbling, your grace is sufficient. The deaths, we mourn; For the recoveries, we give thanks; The compassionate care, we applaud; For the vaccines, we are grateful; For compliance, we plead; For the common good, we pray; In the healing name of Jesus.
