Welcome to Episode 1789, in which Cynthia Chaplin interviews Amy Gross in this installment of Voices, on the Italian Wine Podcast. More about today’s guest Amy Gross is the Founder and CEO of VineSleuth/ Wine4.Me, the US National President of Women For WineSense and the Vice-Chaiman of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Winery Relations Committee. Gross formed VineSleuth/ Wine4.Me to give consumers an easy way to shop for wines using flavor as their guide. In 2011, she began working with sensory scientists, winemakers and wine educators to build a uniform method for flavor mapping wines using sensory panels. Then she pulled together a team to build a technology platform to put that data to use. The resulting white-labeled software is used on winery and retailer websites and in mobile applications for events across the US and Europe. In 2020, she was recognized as one of the top 30 women in AI in Texas and was honored to be named a Rising Star by the Women For WineSense. Her insights and achievements in wine and AI have been covered in the New York Times, Fortune, CNN, and Meininger’s Wine Business International, among others. She works with embassies, corporations and private clients, creating and presenting tastings, events, seminars and in-depth courses. Cynthia is a wine writer, a judge at international wine and sake competitions, she consults with restaurants and enotecas developing comprehensive wine lists and food pairings, and she advises clients who want to curate an Italian wine collection. She currently works for Vinitaly International in Verona as a Project Manager, Educator, and the host of VOICES Series on The Italian Wine Podcast, focusing on diversity and inclusion in the global wine industry.
