The cost of an arts degree could be about to double... is that fair?

Last week the government announced they want to make some uni degrees cheaper and others a lot more expensive. On today's episode Annika Smethhurst explains the proposed changes, plus we speak with the Education Minister Dan Tehan and his former cabinet colleague Julie Bishop about this.

In today's news headlines:

  • Novak Djokovic tests positive to Covid-19 after hosting controversial tennis tournament
  • Panic buying re-starts in Victoria due to harsh lockdown fears
  • AFL star Eddie Betts’ heartbreaking racism plea to Aussies

In today's Briefing we ask: How does fee-supported places work today? What courses will be affected by the proposed changes? What does a current year 12 student about to attend university think? Will more students study overseas as a result of the changes? Are the stereotypes of arts degrees being frivolous unfounded? What evidence is there that lowering university course costs leads to extra demand? How were the cost changes arrived at? How will the proposed changes affect student diversity?
