The legislation will see sex workers, who advertise legitimately online, removed from most platforms. Lucie B is a QLD-based sex worker. She says it will impact her ability to make an honest living. Jarryd Bartle is a lawyer specialising in this space. He says the new laws are being prepared without adequate consultation. Grace Tame made national headlines again this week after addressing the National Press Club amidst federal government sexual abuse allegations. Jamila Rizvi talks to the 2021 Australian of the Year who is leading the fight for survivors of sexual abuse to be allowed to tell their own stories. At 15-years-old, Grace Tame was abused by her high school maths teacher. While the media was permitted to talk about her legal case, laws in Tasmania prevented her from speaking publicly. She’s been fighting to change these archaic laws since she was personally granted a Supreme Court exemption to speak her truth in 2019.
