"Hovering Over The Water"

Our oceans cover 71% of Earth’s surface: that’s serious presence. And yet, we mistreat them, fear their majesty, and abandon them to pollution, poison and trash.

From a spiritual perspective, when we start the book of Genesis, we read that God’s spirit floats above the water. This primordial essence, the vital part of our existence, is there: setting the stage, cradling life, and containing all of the world’s potentiality.

Here is a truth that humans do not LIVE into today: We are charged with the care of these sacred waters. There is a physical and spiritual impact here.

The question I ask is:

Is our mistreatment of the oceans and our environment a reflection of our abandonment of our spiritual life? Can we truly build spiritual strength when we act in ways that are disconnected from our physical environment?
