7: Fedora Atomic to CoreOS: Examining the Linux Container Evolution

On this episode, Dusty Mabe from the Fedora Atomic working group sheds light on the major convergence happening in the Fedora container ecosystem. He explains the decision to unite Fedora's existing Atomic Host with the recently acquired CoreOS Container Linux into a new unified offering called Fedora CoreOS. Dusty dives into the philosophies and technologies from each platform that are being leveraged, from Atomic's RPM OSTree approach to CoreOS's automated updates and Ignition provisioning. He also discusses the path forward for users and contributors from both communities to get involved with the future of containerized operating systems on Fedora. Whether you're a container novice or veteran, this is an insightful look at an exciting evolution.

The Fedora Podcast brings you exclusive interviews and deep dives with the innovators and contributors who make the Fedora community amazing!
