130: Our Debt Free Story & How You Can Do It Too

I'm so excited you're listening to this podcast and I so appreciate you taking the time because we're going to talk about my family's debt-free story, and I hope to inspire you because I know you can do it as well. And I think a lot of people listening are struggling right now. And I thought this could be really helpful to give you literally the inside scoop of what we did to get out of debt. Of course, you know, we have a mortgage still, but we owe- what we owe on it is way less than the value of it. So technically we're in the green with our home too, if, you know, something happened. But just truly being debt-free, owning both of our vehicles. I mean, I got my Lexus last year, it's a $60,000 vehicle. Owning our homes, no credit card debts, no student loans, just nothing. It is- I can't even tell you. And the reason why I'm saying that to start with that is I can't even tell you, like it is SO unbelievable.

And I never thought it was possible for the longest time. I remember I would do every year, I would do a new vision board and I would put the picture of this girl. She was in the field and she was like, "I'm debt-free!". And I remember thinking I wanted it on there because I wanted to be debt-free, but I couldn't fathom it. Like we just were not making a lot of money. When we moved to Texas a decade ago, I was making 30-some thousand dollars a year.
