PART TWO TWITTER SPACE FAN REACTION - Watford 1-3 Cardiff City
Sorry for the delay getting this out. In part two of the Cardiff Post Mortem: We speak to Loyal Hornet who captures the mood perfectly and then to Danny who walked 70 miles for to raise money for the Turkish Earthquake relief effort but feels completely disconnected from the club at present echoing the feelings of many fans, we talk John Parslow who’s dog was as lethargic as the Watford team after 15 minutes of play but is quite willing to bark! John emotes not knowing quite why he has called in but sees echoes of a game vs Grimsby in the 90’s and feels concerned for the future finances as we cut our cloth moving forward and looks long term – and the dog seems to agree. We speak to Martin who is left lost for words before plunging into the always great 5 word reviews and longer form points that people make. A genuine thank you for all who engage in this coming together of the supporters either verbally, in writing or listening - WE are a club still, we may have different opinions but that's ok - it's the passion for the thing that unites us that makes us a club, at times like this - keep hold of that! The Opposition View - Hull City (Away)
We’re joined by Ant from To Hull And Back podcast as we preview this weekend’s match away to Hull City. After much talk about Turkey we take a look back at a player that represented both teams in black and white when he wasn’t competing in Eurovision with Brotherhood Of Man. Steve Terry’s headband is discussed, Peter’s Star Man isn’t, the prediction league is treated with the contempt it deserves and we hear Ant’s dogs reminding him who they are playing against in their next match. PART ONE TWITTER SPACE FAN REACTION - Watford 1-3 Cardiff City
I'd like to apologise firs because in the main, I try to stay as neutral as possible whilst hosting the Post Match Phone In. It is a privilege to talk to our supporters at a time when emotions are heightened but after the Cardiff capitulation I failed to be neutral. My anger wasn't reserved or even mainly to do with the pathetic attempt at football that was presented it but the increased level and approach to stewarding towards the half empty stadium that had actually made the effort to turn up. So sorry - there I've said it. We reflect on the game and all the emotion on a night when for 10 minutes the word "defend" was simply removed from the Watford mindset and thereafter the team huffed and puffed with a large amount of possession but no coherence or idea of what to do to unpick a struggling Cardiff side who sat deep and defended stoically. We talk Parlaci Gino, football, stewards around the directors box before halftime and men in black who point out people in the crowd for those other stewards to go and have a word with. NOT REALLY The Opposition View - Cardiff City (Home) - not here
Without a Cardiff representative and without a tardy Carlos at the start, Pete and Justin cover off the “preview” element of the podcast in record time in order to talk about amongst other things Nigel Pearson’s forearms, liking defenders that shout at other people, Carl turns up but needs to untangle his leads, our latest guest from America - Jack and how as hosts we are just rubbish!! Guided tours of Pinner, the pond and a subway, Pete not fitting into greasy spoon furniture, Beans on toast (again!), Carl’s undercrackers (yet again!!), losing said American in the pub to WD18, losing Peter in the pub to WD18, the French and then banners (yet again again!!!). We hear the interview from the lads who took the banner in to the Bristol City game and were ejected and talk about what the policy of seemingly targeting dissenting voices inside the ground means for the supporter experience on matchdays. We reluctantly carry on the pointless charade that is this season’s prediction league, and segue into Ben Manga’s job description and what Nathan Jones might like to eat. Finally cover the Fantasy League table as we come to the crescendo of the season! Justin remained grumpy throughout this entire segment. PART TWO POST MATCH FAN REACTION - Watford 2 - 0 Bristol City
We finish off our chat with Chris split with a trip to a bad tempered Carl with a low battery and more importantly Jack from the US on his birthday getting to the Vic for the first time ever for a win (just pipping Beans on Toast as a match day/birthday experience into second place), John Parlsow joins us from Chorleywood Common with a charity request (whilst woefully underestimating the cost of a sausage roll in the ground) and also to call out the fine prosthetic leg protest work of Rio Woolf. Pidge from TMA joins us and talks about Luther celebrating his 47th debut anniversary and we read through your 5 word and long form reviews! Thank you to everyone who takes part in this complete shambles of a thing Wednesday night is Cardiff City at home COYH!!!! This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. PART ONE POST MATCH FAN REACTION - Watford 2 - 0 Bristol City
A strange game settled by an own goal and goalkeeping handling error goal, but we still look somewhat dysfunctional. Ryans' Andrews and Porteous get praise as does an electrifying performance from Pedro and this is enough to see off a well-received Nigel Pearson’s Bristol City side to move within 3 points of the top six (but still a highly unlikely target) Brett starts the calls with an odd student days metaphor for the play offs (which we are miraculously only 3 points away from!), Neal joins us from a still unimpressive Nepal and asks about the “Pozzo Out” banner displayed towards the end of the game and still manages to pick the winner in the Aintree Grand National! Greg/Wendover Horn denies having a cocaine problem and claims it is a cold (in what has become known as the Daniella Westbrook defence), he talks about what players you can have on the back of your shirt! RichWFC2 wonders how we are 3 points off the play offs and fill us in on details on the banner carrying guys expulsion. Chris who joined us from the US for the Blackburn game enquires as to the handling of dissent and uses an excellent Harry Potter line. Coming in Part Two we hear from Carl and Birthday boy Jack on his first visit to the Vic!! This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. The Opposition View - Bristol City (Home)
David from the Forever Bristol City podcast joins us to preview the forthcoming match at Vicarage Road. There's a considerable amount of chat about Keith Millen, nobody remembers Gerard Lavin, the prediction league is it's usual shambles and we marvel at the size of Nigel Pearson's forearms, This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. DO NOT SCRATCH YOUR EYES - A DARK TOWEL ON A DARK DAY
On Good Friday something unpleasant went on - and we're not talking about Neil Warnock disappearing back up to Yorkshire with three points. A number of people started to question the ownership of the club. We are all in favour of communications with the clubs hierarchy and are trying to help organise just that however on a day that saw some banners unveiled, it appears that only those critical of the owner were dealt with by the stewards on hand. Here Pete gets to talk to Rich who when unveiling a towel with "Pozzo Out" painted on it, was confronted with up to six stewards in attempt to suppress his "quiet process". Rich talks about the event, his handling, how unabsorbant the towel had previous been and the police handling outside of the pitch area. Carl, Justin and Pete then discuss what this means in their eyes. You are of course welcome to your own view and we hope this helps you understand some of the facts of the situation. To make matters worse Pete starts singing at the end!!!! Huge thanks to Rich! COYH!! This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes.
