Gay 90s w/ Dana Piccoli - Ep. 174

Put down that Delia's catalogue and tie your best flannel around your waist because we're dyking out about the Gay 90s with media maven Dana Piccoli (Queer Media Matters)! What is the women's soft rock, the riot grrrls, the gentle teen bop boys who reminded us of girls we crushed on? What exactly made the 90s so gay? Also, was the movie Foxfire kept hidden at Blockbuster for fear that it would turn an entire generation gay? Is Chasing Amy still annoying to watch? We answer as many of these questions as we can before mom picks up the phone and breaks our internet connection. Plus, Dana sells us on revisiting Showgirls now that we can watch it without having to buy tickets for Hackers before sneaking into the theater. Before we get to that schweet nostalgia convo, Carolyn reveals her gayest thing that MUST be kept hidden from Rosie. And, Melody may or may not have joined a cult. Finally, we end with a listener question that has us gushing. We hope you get jiggy with this episode. If not, you can talk to the hand.
