Tarryn -  Navigating Sobriety - Solo·ish

Tarryn -  Navigating Sobriety - Solo·ish

What happens when you decide to change your relationship with booze and your partner does not ESPECIALLY when it's been a big piece of your relationship?

Everything.

Today I share my conversation with one of my favorite humans on the planet, Dr. Tarryn McCarthy.

A former thriving functional alcoholic.

A current thriving business owner and loving human.

Tarryn has been sober for 7 years and one of the biggest things that held her back was changing the dynamic with her husband as alcohol had been a piece of their love language for years. Or so she thought.

We talk about how she spent 5-6 years fighting to be sober, riddled with self-judgment guilt and shame and how if she had known she could have been gentler and kinder to herself how much easier her journey could have been.

We talk about the fear that we won't be able to spend quality time or connect with our spouse if we don’t drink but really that’s not a connection at all and the importance of redefining how we do both to grow as a couple.

We talk about the importance of owning our own journey and not stepping in to own our spouses is such a growth opportunity for both people and how personal radical responsibility plays a role in that. And one I have been so guilty of doing!

Tarryn is a coach, a leader, a world changer who puts joy and happiness at the core of everything she does. She can be be found on Instagram at @thebizofhappiness or at www.thebizofhappiness.com.
