A scare on Hollywood’s biggest night - Just as the Oscars A-list crowd was heading into the famed Governor's Ball after-party, a 3.9-magnitude earthquake rattled Southern California. Jim Moret was out on the red carpet when it struck. Plus, there continues to be a big reaction to that Oval Office shouting match between President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky. It was on the mind of many at last night's Oscars with some stars taking a stand regarding the Trump vs Zelensky smack down. And with two-time winner Gene Hackman dying just four days before the ceremony, producers scrambled to give him a prime spot in the in-memoriam segment. It’s unlike anything we've ever seen at the White House, President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky were supposed to talk about how to end Ukraine’s war with Russia, but it was anything but peaceful - with President Trump essentially kicking Zelensky out. And with cops saying they haven't ruled out foul play, questions are swirling over how Gene Hackman, his wife, and dog ended up dead in their Santa Fe home. Why were there pills scattered on a counter? And why was the front door ajar? Plus, 911 operators deal with all sorts of emergencies, but this was a new one...the caller needed help right away because a pigeon was in her house. And Gene Hackman's death came just days before the Oscars. Hackman was a two-time winner, and it's now been confirmed that the Academy is planning a special tribute during Sunday’s ceremony. A cloud of suspicion surrounds the deaths of Oscar winning actor Gene Hackman and his wife, whose bodies were found in their Santa Fe home. No one had seen the couple for days and authorities say the couple had been dead for some time. The sheriff says they are not ruling out foul play. And tributes continue to pour in for Michelle Trachtenberg, who died yesterday in her apartment in New York. She was only 39. She reportedly underwent a liver transplant just months before her death, which has prompted speculation about a possible link. Plus, you've seen Elon Musk's four-year-old son 'X' at the inauguration, partying at Mar-A-Lago - even fidgeting in the Oval Office. But his mom is speaking out saying stop putting my child in the spotlight. And what do singer Katy Perry, TV personality Gayle King, and Jeff Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sanchez have in common? They're all going into space! To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. It was news today that shocked fans of two very popular TV shows - Gossip Girl and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Actress Michelle Trachtenberg who starred on both is dead at age 39. Her mother found her unresponsive on the floor early this morning. And President Trump held the first cabinet meeting of his new term in office, but he wasn't the main player. As the cabinet secretaries gathered with the President in the cabinet room just off the Oval Office, it was Elon Musk at the head of the table. Plus, turning 30 is a big milestone and for one young woman's birthday, all she wanted was a new nose. And she saved for years to be able to afford one. After years of being bullied, she says she's got a new lease on life. And an incredibly personal project for TV correspondent Will Reeve: a documentary on his father - the actor who played Superman. Another aviation scare... this time in Chicago where a midway jet aborted a landing when the pilot spotted another aircraft about to cross the runway in front of him. It's just the latest in a string of aviation dramas this year. And an unusual request from accused healthcare CEO assassin Luigi Mangione. Don’t send so many pictures. Apparently, the accused killer, who has pled not guilty, is being inundated with letters, gifts, and photos. Now, his legal team wants to put a limit on it. Plus, a horrific hit and run and cops say an Amazon driver is to blame. A woman was struck by the delivery truck and then nearby doorbell cameras show the driver getting out looking at the woman on the ground screaming and then leaving the scene. And the gold in Fort Knox is present and accounted for. That's the word from the U.S. treasury secretary. But that hasn't stopped conspiracy theorists from speculating for years that the gold is gone... replaced with fakes and now even President Trump's been mentioning it. Last night Jane Fonda received a lifetime achievement award at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. The 87-year-old actress used the opportunity to deliver a politically charged speech. She didn't mention President Trump by name, but it was very clear who she was talking about. And thousands of federal workers are out of a job today and word is, more firings are to come. Some found out they had no job when they could no longer access their email. That's not the way to let an employee go. Plus, staff at a hospital in Pennsylvania are still reeling after a weekend shooting in the intensive care unit that left one police officer dead, and several hospital workers injured. The suspect - who was killed in the shootout - had recently lost a family member in the unit. And egg prices are expected to jump 20% this year, so people are going to great lengths to get them. Forget about buying a dozen at the local supermarket, some are buying eggs in what's called "loosie" style - three in a bag.   To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. If you saw this past weekend's Saturday Night Live anniversary special, you may have noticed how tightly packed the studio was. Now Steve Martins says least two of the big stars tested positive for Covid-19. A skit during the show actually joked about the possibility. And there hasn't been a hockey game so political since the U.S. faced off against the Soviet Union in the 1980 “Miracle on Ice.” Last night's match up between the U.S. and Canada was preceded by plenty of bluster by President Trump - and though it was a close one, in the end, Canada won. And that's given Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau plenty of ammo to fire back at Mr. Trump. Plus, Elon Musk was seen swinging a giant chainsaw at the CPAC Convention. His dramatic appearance comes as the mother of three of his children is desperately trying to get his attention. She says he's not responding to her texts or emails - so now she's resorting to social media. And scores of people lined up outside a Manhattan court today for a seat inside court for an appearance by suspected HealthCare CEO assassin Luigi Mangione. And inside there were cheers for Mangione’s lawyers. To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. She's a world class tennis star who's tough as nails on the court, but Emma Raducanu broke down in tears. Not because of a bad game, but because in the stands, she spotted a man she says is stalking her. She was so unnerved she tried to hide behind the umpire's chair. And an unbelievable situation when a woman leaving a restaurant is confronted by a man with a gun. He fires but misses and what ensues is a cat and mouse chase that ends in the woman's death. Authorities believe the killing was a murder for hire. Plus, it's U.S. versus Canada in tonight's big hockey championship match and President Trump is using the event to continue goading Canada - saying it should become the US' 51st state. And officials say it will be Monday before things are back to normal at the Toronto airport in the wake of Monday’s jet crash that left the plane upside down and travelers have had it with delays. In fact, there was a near riot when they couldn't get their luggage.
