The Arctic blast meteorologists have been forecasting has hit the Pacific Northwest...and the polar express is headed across the plains to the east. And even before the run on stores from the storm, if you've got a sick child, you've probably already had trouble finding cold medicine. However, as Ann Mercogliano reports…there may be a solution to all those empty shelves. Plus, it's a missing persons case with a lot of troubling questions. 11-year-old Madelina was last seen just before Thanksgiving…but she wasn’t reported missing until last week! Now both her mother and stepfather are facing charges…and no one knows what happened to their little girl. And it was a lifelong dream of a man abandoned as a baby. That one day, he would find his birth family. Store parking lots are packed right now with last minute holiday shoppers...and that’s why our first story today comes with a warning. A great grandmother was hit by someone backing out of a parking spot leading to her and her three-year-old great granddaughter being pinned under the car. And chances are you're looking forward to seeing relatives over the holidays…but you might want to rethink your travel plans. A massive Arctic blast is sweeping across the country with all of the lower 48 seeing freezing temperatures. Places haven't been this cold at Christmas in 40 years. The day after Harvey Weinstein was found guilty in California of rape on the claims of one accuser, another one of his accusers, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, is lashing out at the disgraced movie producer's legal team saying they ridiculed her. She’s the wife of the governor of California who says he's proud of her and the other brave women who spoke up. The jury ended up deadlocked on the claims Siebel Newsom made. And it was a festive office Christmas party with co-workers exchanging fun gifts. However, one lady ended up walking away with a surprise that, as Les Trent tells us, turned out to be anything but a white elephant! There's a reason they ask you to keep your seatbelts fastened while on a plane, and the passengers on a Hawaiian Airlines flight are well aware of it. 90 million packages are being shipped every day until Christmas...and at postal service hubs they're as busy as Santa's elves! Plus, it's not quite a needle in a haystack, but police in Idaho are sifting through 22,000 motor vehicle records to find the white Hyundai that may be connected to the murder of four college students. As Ann Mercogliano reports, in some places hospitalizations are at their worst in a decade - and that's before people return from the World Cup, which some fear will be a superspreader event. And a very happy appearance on The Today Show this morning as Al Roker was back on the air after spending a month in the hospital. He joined the show remotely, just for a bit. After all the health challenges he's faced, it was great to see him. Plus, the family of an American college student studying abroad in France is frantic today - their son has not been in contact with them for more than two weeks, and none of his credit cards have been used since December 3rd. As Les Trent reports, they're hoping media attention will help them find out what's happened.
