The Journey of a Ski & Snowboard Instructor: Meet John Lira

John Lira is currently in charge of training and development for Golden Peak Children's Ski and Snowboard School in Vail, Colorado while also helping manage the Children's Alpine and Snowboard programs.

He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology before attending the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis. After being sworn in as a member of the Indiana Bar, John moved to Vail two years later to teach skiing primarily to children ages 3 to 6 years old for 8 years before moving into management. He has a full certification in Alpine Skiing as well as certifications in freestyle, children's specialist, snowboard, and adaptive disciplines.

In this episode, John shares:

  • Why he ultimately chose to leave the legal profession 2 years after passing the Indiana Bar examination

  • An overview of social security disability law, poverty law, trust & estates law
