Miami will be Messi's last club

Lionel Messi has decided not to participate in this summer's Olympics with Argentina, citing the demanding schedule and his age. Messi, currently preparing for the Copa América, explained that it would be "too much" to compete in both tournaments. In an interview with ESPN Argentina, he said, "I have to choose carefully, and it would be too much to play two straight tournaments." He fondly recalled his 2008 Olympic experience but emphasized the need for balance at this stage of his career.

Messi also confirmed that Inter Miami will be his final team. In an interview with ESPN Argentina, the 36-year-old superstar revealed that there’s “not a lot of time left” in his career and described his move to the U.S. as a significant transition. Messi said, "I’ve done this all of my life; I love playing ball. I enjoy the practices and the day-to-day, the games." He also shared how winning the 2022 World Cup with Argentina gave him a new perspective, allowing him to enjoy the remaining moments of his career more fully. He also discussed the possibility of playing in the 2026 World Cup, stating that his participation would depend on his physical condition and ability to compete at a high level. Will Inter Miami be his last club? Messi said, "Yes. I think so, yes. Right now I think it’s going to be my last club, yes,"

Messi alsos hared that meeting NBA legend Michael Jordan and taking a photo with him is a major goal. Messi, a big basketball fan, has previously met NFL star Patrick Mahomes and NBA icons LeBron James and Stephen Curry. His former teammate, Kevin Prince-Boateng, revealed Messi's love for shooting hoops during downtime, highlighting his admiration for the sport.
