The Malleus Maleficarum Witch Hunters’ Handbook- In 1487 during the Inquisition, two Dominican friars, Heinrich Kramer and Jacob Sprenger published the witch-hunters’ book, Malleus Maleficarum (Hammer of Witches). The misogynistic manual promoted the idea that women are inherently evil and form pacts with the devil. During the mid-1940s, there was panic all over in Mattoon, Illinois. Many residents stayed inside their homes for the fear of an intruder that could not be seen, but carried a terrible weapon. They became helpless, paralyzed and unable to request for assistance. The person or people believed to be responsible for the attacks are notoriously known as the “Mad Gasser of Mattoon,” or the “Phantom Anesthetist.” The mysterious intruder was never caught in Mattoon, his victims were never clearly diagnosed, and no one died or had serious medical consequences. "Bark Bark" Did you hear that? That Growl?! It's the Dogman of Michigan! These terrifying beasts have had far more sightings than bigfoot, who is practically the poster-creature for cryptozoology. Dogman sightings began in one area and then spread with descriptions varying slightly but core characteristics remaining intact. Dogman sightings typically occur in the standard settings one would expect for all creepy stories; deep in the forest, logging camps, and even more frequently, out on isolated roads at night.
