Are LDS Funerals Just for Proselyitizing?

Many people see LDS funerals as an attempt to proselytize their doctrine and The Plan of Salvation with little attention paid to the person who has passed away.

There are many horror stories of LDS funerals completely ignoring the family, the wishes of the family, and pushing their own agenda.

What does the Handbook of Instruction say about LDS funerals and how they should be conducted? Mormonish tries to determine exactly what the purpose of an LDS is. The results may clear up some of the confusion and frustration.
