Forever 21 Files for Bankruptcy Protection (Again)

It’s the end of an era (maybe).

Forever 21 has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection — for the second time — as mall traffic continues to decline and competition from online giants like Amazon, Temu, and Shein heats up.

F21 OpCo, which runs the retail chain, announced plans to wind down its U.S. business while exploring whether it can survive with a partner or if it will need to sell off assets. This follows its first bankruptcy filing back in 2019, which led to store closures and restructuring — but clearly, the comeback didn’t stick.
