Episode 111: The Way of Excellence: what the world needs from leaders today with Mike Kai

It’s the end of 2021! Can you believe it? We want to end this year on a high note. This episode will not only encourage you as a leader, but bring a little of the Aloha spirit to your life today, especially to all of you knee-deep in winter chill.

All the way from Hawaii, the Mattsons are joined by pastor, businessman, author and family man, Mike Kai. He truly is a man who “pursues every matter with excellence as if it were for the Lord”. Mike shares honestly about his struggles in the earlier years of life and how God clearly showed him a way to lead and how to do it with excellence. Mike’s principles of “excellence” might not be what you think. In fact, this episode is for anyone who is hungry to lead well and with great purpose regardless of your background, training, or experience.

Mike Kai is currently the pastor of Hawaii’s Inspire Church - which began as a small congregation in Hawaii in 2001 and has become a thriving 6,000+ member multi-site congregation. Mike is also the founder of Inspire Collective and Inspire Network. He is passionate about building the worldwide Church, leaders and a culture that will last.

Mike Kai is the author of The Pound for Pound Principle and Plateaus, as well as his newest book, That Doesn’t Just Happen: How Excellence Accelerates Everything (Inspire Books, August 3, 2021). You will find Mike speaking at conferences and to congregations all over the world, conducting some of his favorite conversations with pastors and leaders. Mike and his wife, Lisa, reside in Honolulu and are the proud parents of three daughters and grandparents of two grandchildren.
