Episode 118: The Summits and Valleys of Marriage with Bryan and Kristen Jones

Episode 118: The Summits and Valleys of Marriage with Bryan and Kristen Jones

In honor of Valentine's week, Jeff and Terra want to help spur you on in your marriage. This is not your typical advice; “date your spouse once a week” or “make sure you do the dishes”. This is a real conversation with the Mattson's good friends, Bryan and Kristen Jones, about the highs and lows in their twenty years of marriage. Sometimes we just want fun dates, long walks on the beach, beautiful flowers just because (all good things) - but the reality of experiencing true intimacy in any marriage takes more honesty, work, and courage than most of us could even imagine at the beginning of our relationships. The Jones are parents to three kids, leaders at a Christian University in Seattle, WA, and mountaineers who have summited seven mountains. They faced a devastating fall 7 years into their marriage when Bryan admitted he was sexually addicted to pornography, masturbation, and was tempted by emotional affairs. Kristen shares how she faced this reality head on and what helped her move through the pain and not around it. Together they have learned to see their shared meaning in the great outdoors as they help their own children learn to do hard things.

Episode 118 is for anyone who is married, wants to be married, or pondering if they should stay married. Whether you have faced similar addictions and betrayal, or want to help your kids grow their confidence to do hard things, Bryan and Kristen's vulnerability will be an encouragement to anyone who needs inspiration to keep going in their marriage.
