Interview Jon Ekstrand & Carl-Johan Sevedag

In this new Composer Talk Swedish Composers Jon Ekstrand and Carl-Johan Sevedag talk about their latest film Opponent. This film had just its world premiere during the Berlinale film festival in Berlin, Germany. They talk about how they worked together on writing the music for this film. They give us an in-depth look in there working process.

About:

Jon Ekstrand and Carl-Johan Sevedag are filmmusic composers both born in Sweden. Jon Ekstrand began his career under the mentorship of acclaimed sound designer Owe Svensson. In 1998 he attended the Stockholm Film School where he met director Daniel Espinosa. The two formed a creative relationship which continues to this day. Jon has written music for films such as Easy Money trilogy, Child 44, Life, Hilma and the Marvel film Morbius.

Carl-Johan Sevedag is a composer/multi-instrumentalist who started his career as a producer and songwriter. His sound was often playful and melodic. At the age of 23 he composed the music for the Emmy-winning documentary “Clouds over Cuba”. He recently wrote the music for the Netflix original Red Dot and Bartosz M. Kowalski’s latest horror film Hellhole.

Both composer have worked together on films such as Borg vs. McEnroe, Horizon line and ALEX. Recently they wrote the music for the film Opponent which premiered at the 2023 Berlinale film festival.
