SO EP:594 Bigfoot: Guardians Of The River

In this week's episode, I share an extraordinary story from a man named Dale who experienced something truly remarkable in the North Georgia mountains during the summer of 1983. What began as an innocent fishing and camping trip for two fourteen-year-old boys turned into an encounter that would haunt them for the rest of their lives.Dale's story takes us down the Chattooga River, where he and his childhood friend Brad embarked on what should have been a straightforward seven-day journey. Armed with fishing gear, a fourteen-foot flat-bottom aluminum boat, and the confidence of youth, they set off into the wilderness, unaware of what awaited them.

The tale unfolds night by night, as the boys begin experiencing strange phenomena – unusual sounds echoing through the forest, eerie silences descending without warning, and the discovery of massive, unexplainable footprints along the riverbank. These mysterious occurrences gradually escalate, from wood knocking communications in the darkness to the shocking moment when an unseen creature tears apart their steel mesh fish basket to steal their prized catfish.The heart of Dale's account centers on their direct encounters with what appear to be Sasquatch creatures – tall, powerful beings that seemed not to threaten the boys, but rather to warn them away from continuing downstream. The story raises fascinating questions: What danger lurked further downriver that even these formidable creatures feared? Why did they choose to interact with two young humans rather than simply avoiding them?
