A Conversation with SONIA ELISHEVA

London-based singer-songwriter SONIA ELISHEVA is making waves with her fearless blend of sultry jazz vocals, electro swing bangers, and raw, soul-baring storytelling. The result? A sound that’s as unpredictable as a late-night London adventure - part cocktail bar sophistication, part sweaty underground club.

Born to Ukrainian and British parents, Sonia grew up with one foot in each culture, soaking up the folk traditions of Eastern Europe and the vibrant music scene of her hometown. Her songs pull from this rich duality, blending nostalgia with modern beats.

No stranger to the stage, Sonia’s gig history is as varied as her influences. She’s sold out headline shows at London’s world-famous Pizza Express Live and Shoreditch’s Electro Swing night.

As an independent artist she previously earned features on several Spotify editorial playlists including: New Music Friday UK and Jazz UK as well as radio support from BBC Introducing and 6Music. Now signed to UK label Freshly Squeezed Sonia released her debut album Black Sea on 11th April 2025.
