194: How to Make Every Breath Count with Ryan Shekell

194: How to Make Every Breath Count with Ryan Shekell

“What I was told was never the goal.” -Ryan Shekell In life, there are two people who will tell you that you can't do it: other people and yourself. Other people will sometimes say things that will discourage you, even if they mean well. But it is helpful to remember that when they say you can't, it doesn't have anything to do with you or what you can or can't achieve. Other people's opinions of you are formed based on their own experiences, not yours.  And then there's yourself—your inner critic. This is the voice inside your head that tells you you'll fail at whatever it is you're trying to accomplish. When you say you can't do something, it starts to feel true. But remember that you are the only person in charge of your life, so be careful with how you treat yourself! It's probably the second one that can get to us the most. So, what can we do to make sure these voices do not drown our potential? In this episode, Ted speaks with Ryan Shekell, the host of Every Breath Counts Podcast. At 18, Ryan was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. As a young man yet starting to pursue his dream, this could mean the end. But not for Ryan! Listen in as he relates how he draws courage from his limitation, what believing in yourself really means, what being a delusional optimist can do, how to build a strong foundation for health, what the cure for anxiety is, what strategy is best when making decisions, and how our example can affect others, directly or indirectly.   And speaking of growing our potential, keep tuning in for exciting changes to our podcast!  Connect with Ted:  Website Facebook  Twitter Instagram     LinkedIn YouTube Highlights:  01:10 When Someone Says, “You Can’t Do It” 07:44 What Treating a Medical Condition Involves  11:00 Hang On  15:06 Beating the Odds 18:40 Not a Question of “What”, But a “Who” 23:34 The Best Strategy in Decision-Making  29:01 When Someone Tells You, “You Can’t Do It”   32:42 There’s Greatness Inside of You, Let It Out 35:22 Recap

A strong personal brand will allow you to stand out in your professional industry, ensure that your personal message is heard, and maximize the opportunities available to you. However, there is this misconception that you need to have a strong social media presence, wear the “most fashionable” clothing, and be completely outgoing. This is not necessarily true. The main goal with branding is to figure out what YOU want out of your career.  In this episode, Ted interviews Will Kaye a.k.a. Brimstone. Besides being a professional wrestler, Brimstone also holds many titles such as author, podcaster, musician, children’s book hero, philanthropist, and many more! What’s remarkable is that all of these, although sitting on the opposite side of the spectrum, perfectly complement each other. How does he do that? 192: The Real Cost of Not Speaking Your True Voice Dr. Fred Moss

“The biggest tragedy in the world is to live a whole life without anyone ever getting to know you.” -Dr. Fred Moss   It's scary to be a little different and talk out of the box. If you feel that way, you are not alone! All of us will go through this stage in life because we were taught from day one to fit in and not make waves. Soon, we are hiding behind the fear of being judged, the barrier of social acceptance, and the mask of false pride. But that's a trick of the mind! We’re not really fooling anyone because people can see through the facade and the only one who refuses to recognize it is us.  Speaking your truth doesn't mean you have to be loud or crazy. Sometimes it just takes a little bit of courage to say we don’t want this anymore. In this episode, Ted sits with author, speaker, psychiatrist, and podcaster Dr. Fred Moss. Ted and Dr. Moss discuss how we can evade the biggest tragedy of all— that of living our life without anyone knowing who we truly are, including us. They also talk about how we can find our true voice amidst the noise, what makes it hard to embrace our true voice, what can help us do so, the true cost of lying to ourselves, the common denominator humans have, and how acceptance can help us heal. 190: Collaborative Divorce: Divorce Without the Drama, Blaming, and Pain with Sonia Frontera

“The focus needs to be on what you're going to create going forward. It's not after the divorce is over, start right now!” -Sonia Frontera When we think about divorce, it's easy to put all of the blame on our ex. And while that might feel good at the moment, it can ultimately hurt us, our former spouse, and our kids in the long run. When we try and make someone else the bad guy, we get caught up in the blame game. We get caught up in fighting over things that don't matter to us anymore. And it keeps us stuck. It keeps us from moving forward and healing. But our ex is not the enemy here, and we are not either! But we know that the only person who can hurt us is ourselves. While it is pretty easy to get caught up in the anger and resentment of the situation, it is important to remember that there are ways to approach it so we can come out of the process with a better relationship with our ex and make the experience better for everyone, especially our kids. In this episode, Ted sits with trainer, author, and divorce lawyer Sonia Frontera to discuss the realities of divorce and the good things that can come out of the process if spouses approached it collaboratively. But first and foremost, unless it is an abusive relationship, the priority should be to save the marriage. After all, it is a sacred union. Ted and Sonia share practical steps that couples can take before even deciding to cut the cord. But the question is, what if in the end, they still decided to push through with the divorce? But if you were to be productive, you can free up a lot of time.” -Robert Riopel    We’ve been taught that success is a result of hard work, luck, or even opportunity. It isn’t. Success is a result of intentional decisions. Joining us this week is Robert Riopel, the author of Success Left A Clue. Robert elaborates on just what those clues are and how to apply them. Ted and Robert also share how to go about building a passive income stream that will create time freedom, why owning our debt is important, how to take ownership of our investment, why we should have a mandatory vacation, what differentiates being busy as opposed to being productive, and how to turn failures and setbacks around to your benefit.    Your financial freedom is your most valuable investment. 187: How Your Subconscious Mind Can Help You Achieve the Results You Want with Nic Aguirre

“You're not only the actor, you're also the director. And this is where you can take the script and you can change what happens.” -Nic Aguirre   The subconscious mind is the source of our creativity, intuition, and problem-solving skills. But it can also be the reason why we struggle with certain issues. When we talk about the subconscious mind, we’re not talking about dreams or hallucinations, but instead, the part of our mind that regulates all of our bodily functions and dictates every action we take and most decisions we make.    In this episode, we will take a look at what hypnosis really is, how hypnotherapy works, what the so-called trance state is like, what is the subconscious mind, how to manifest the change we want to achieve, and how you can use this information to your advantage.   A lot of people are skeptical about hypnotherapy. But in a world where most people are not living the life they want for themselves, maybe we are missing something in terms of achieving true personal growth and reprogramming our subconscious mind so that we can make our visions into reality. No doubt you’ll agree that before we write something off, it’s worth giving it a thorough examination first.    So if you’re ready to make the type of changes in your life that will bring you the results you want, check out today’s episode.  Connect with Ted:  Website Facebook  Twitter Instagram     LinkedIn YouTube Highlights:  02:06 The Mental Law 08:39 Hypnosis in Therapy 13:21 What Really is Hypnosis and Trance State? 20:23 What is the Subconscious?  25:37 How to Make Change Happen 29:27 Recap
