What risk type are you? Geoff Trickey on using psychology to understand risk

What risk type are you? And why should you care?

Geoff Trickey, Founder & CEO at Psychological Consultancy Ltd, joins Christian Harris on this week's episode of the Safety And Risk Success Podcast to discuss the Risk Type Compass.

This is an online diagnostic tool, developed by Geoff and his team, which calculates your risk type. It assesses the people side of risk and how this impacts our individual approaches to decision making.

Risk dispositions impact individuals' decision making, interpersonal relationships and team dynamics and organisations' risk culture.

The Risk Type Compass assesses risk appetite, supports leadership development, team development, board development, conflict resolution, selection and development processes and organisational change (and much more).

The discussion includes:

  • How and why Geoff came up with the idea of the Risk Type Compass
  • What is it? How does it work and what can the results be used for?
  • The two axes measured: emotion and cognition
  • The 8x risk types
  • Christian's risk type and what this means for him

The Compass should be a powerful tool in your armoury to better understand your own risk appetite, but also that of your team, enabling you to make more informed decisions.
