207. OFF LIMITS (1988)
Buddy Cop Movie Month continues with 1988's Off Limits starring Willem Dafoe, Gregory Hines, with a bevy of knockout supporting performances from Scott Glenn, Fred Ward, and Amanda Pays. Directed by Christopher Crowe, Off Limits follows McGriff and Albaby, two plain clothes U.S. military policemen on duty in war-time Saigon taxed with the job of investigating the serial killings of local prostitutes, and their prime suspect is high ranking U.S. Army officer. This often overlooked gem from the 80s delivers on everything the summary promises and then some. 204. THE MUMMY (2017)
Today we close out September’s theme of Remakes That Nobody Asked For with 2017’s Alex Kurtzman-helmed The Mummy starring Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe, and the always AMAZING Sofia Boutella in the title role. With what was to launch Universal's long term plans of updating the world with their classic Universal Monsters in the guise of the aptly named Dark Universe, which was announced just as The Mummy was being released, a lot was riding on it's success. How did it all fair? 202. THE AMITYVILLE HORROR (2005)
Just when you think we’ve already covered our least favorite movie of this month’s theme of Remakes That Nobody Asked For, 2005’s The Amityville Horror says “hold my demonic beer.” And, yes, that 25:37 runtime IS accurate. This is the shortest movie episode you’ll ever hear from us. Ever. Promise. So, sit back and grab a cold one. (Not a Tall Boy because you won’t finish it before the episode is over.)
