Nurse's Aide Charged W/ Sex Crimes Involving Memory Care Patients | FULL Police Interrogation

Nurse's Aide Charged W/ Sex Crimes Involving Memory Care Patients | FULL Police Interrogation

Nurse's Aide Charged W/ Sex Crimes Involving Memory Care Patients | FULL Police InterrogationA former nurse's aide who pleaded guilty to sex crimes involving memory care patients was sentenced to three years in prison on Tuesday.Godbless Uwadiegwu, 59, of Middletown, pleaded guilty to two counts of gross sexual imposition. He sexually assaulted two women at two different facilities in Warren County.Judge Don Oda sentenced Uwadiegwu to the maximum prison sentence, 18 months on each conviction for a total of three years.Victims and their families didn't attend the sentencing hearing due to airline and COVID-19 issues, but a livestream was available for them to watch it remotely. In addition, victim advocate Erika Bourelle read letters on behalf of the victims and their families. One letter was written by one of the victims herself."Some people may not remember, but I do. This happened on his first day in my building. I needed assistance after using the restroom and he came in to help me wipe," she wrote. The victim described how Uwadiegwu sexually assaulted her."I said, 'Hey, what are you doing?' And he was very shocked and said, 'Oh, I'm sorry. That was an accident,'" the victim wrote. "He takes advantage of people who can't defend themselves, and I think he needs to go to prison for as long as possible."Bourelle read another letter written by the second victim's son. His mother suffers from Alzheimer's and dementia"It is obvious what a sad, pathetic person you are. What kind of monster preys on defenseless women?" he wrote. "Thanks to this terrible disease, there is less and less of my mother, but she has moments of clarity, times when mom is back. Her eyes are clear and she is exactly how I remember her. We live for those moments. Unfortunately, when it comes to the sexual assault, my mother remembers."He said Uwadiegwu used to bring his mother gifts and candy to gain her trust. Instead, he betrayed it."My mother doesn't remember much these days, but she remembers you and what you do did. So, she is left with shame and fear. That is the impact on my mother," he wrote. On Tuesday, Uwadiegwu spoke for the first time publicly. He didn't admit to any wrongdoing. He said he was just doing his job."I have been a missionary. I lived in a church, and I have been working to help people in this field," Uwadiegwu said. "As a caregiver, I put empathy in my work in helping people."Uwadiegwu said the job of a caregiver is a very serious job and sometimes he had to clean patients."I really apologize if there was any way to think I have done anything I shouldn't do," Uwadiegwu said. "It never came across my mind at any time. Please believe me."Uwadiegwu faces similar charges in Butler County.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/darkest-mysteries-online-the-strange-and-unusual-podcast-2025--5684156/support.Darkest Mysteries Online

Israel Keyes is the most terrifying serial killer you’ve probably never heard of - Serial Killer Documentary

Israel Keyes is the most terrifying serial killer you’ve probably never heard of - Serial Killer Documentary

Israel Keyes is the most terrifying serial killer you’ve probably never heard of - Serial Killer DocumentaryIsrael Keyes is all of your worst fears personified into one of the most terrifying serial killers of the 21st century.February 1, 2012, began like any other day at work for 18-year-old Samantha Koenig, but it ended in unspeakable tragedy.Finishing up her shift at the Common Grounds coffee stand in downtown Anchorage, Alaska, the young barista was approached by a man wearing a ski mask who ordered coffee – a man who would later be named as Israel Keyes. After Samantha handed him the order, Keyes pulled out a gun and demanded money, and the terrified teen quickly complied.Forcing himself inside the stand, Keyes tied the young woman’s hands together with zip ties before forcing her into his white Ford Focus, where she tried – and failed – to escape the abductor, who held a gun to her head and said he would kill her if she tried again.Driving around town with Samantha still bound in the vehicle, Keyes explained to the terrified teen that this was simply a kidnapping for ransom and that if she cooperated, she’d be returned to her family unharmed.Keyes kept Samantha alive for several hours and even drove back to her coffee stand to retrieve her mobile phone. He then used it to send a fake text message to her boyfriend, who was due to pick her up after her shift. The text read: “Hey, I’m spending a couple of days with friends, let me dad know.”Keyes took Samantha to his property, where he tied her up in a shed. He turned his radio up so no one could hear her screams and pleas for help. After demanding Samantha’s address, Keyes made his way to retrieve her ATM card from her boyfriend’s truck. In a gut-wrenching twist, while stealing the debit card, Keyes was confronted by Samantha’s boyfriend – who was already on edge after discovering Koenig was not at work when he arrived to pick her up as well as having received the strange text message from her phone earlier, which had, in fact, been sent by Keyes.Thinking he was a random burglar attempting to break into his car, Samantha’s boyfriend ran inside to get help, while Keyes fled.Returning to his property, Keyes poured himself a glass of wine as he returned to his shed and raped a sobbing Samantha. He then strangled her to death.Keyes returned inside, packed for a pre-planned cruise in New Orleans, woke his daughter for school, and left for the airport.Returning to Anchorage on February 17, 2012, Keyes began preparing a ransom note, but first, he decided to remove Samantha’s body from the cupboard. He applied makeup to Samantha’s face – frozen and lifeless – before unsettlingly sewing her eyes open with fishing line to give her the appearance of being alive. He then took a Polaroid of her “holding” up that day’s newspaper.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/darkest-mysteries-online-the-strange-and-unusual-podcast-2025--5684156/support.Darkest Mysteries Online

The Sleep Walker Murderer | Randy Herman Jr Interrogation

The Sleep Walker Murderer | Randy Herman Jr Interrogation

The Sleep Walker Murderer | Randy Herman Jr InterrogationRandy Herman was convicted of first-degree murder for the brutal stabbing death of his childhood friend, Brooke Preston, who he claimed he killed while sleepwalking. It was a case with an unusual defense and one that ultimately the jury didn’t buy.The defense team for Randy Herman Jr. tried to argue during his murder trial that he was sleepwalking when he brutally stabbed his roommate and childhood friend 21-year-old Brooke Preston to death inside their Florida home in 2017.He had a long history of sleepwalking which dated back to childhood. Herman, who had a habit of self-medicating with alcohol and had previously been convicted of two DUIs, had been on a drinking binge in the days before the stabbing, the Miami New Times reported in 2019. He estimated that he drank around 30 beers during one of the last days he spent with Preston, who was gearing up to leave and move in with her boyfriend. That and his frequent lack of decent sleep were brought up as contributing factors that the defense said caused him to sleepwalk.During his trial, Herman pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, with sleepwalking being the psychological affliction. His defense called Dr. Charles Patrick Ewing, a forensic psychologist, to the stand who testified that it usually takes some time to fall into a deep sleep, the kind of sleep that sleepwalking is believed to occur during. However, he also testified that it’s possible for someone to fall into a deep sleep immediately, especially when drinking and sleep deprivation are involved. Herman had claimed that he had spoken to Preston just minutes before killing her. He testified that he remembers waking up in his bed to Preston coming into his room to talk about a shirt he was giving her. Just minutes later, he remembered stabbing Preston to death but believed he was dreaming, according to him. The new Hulu documentary “Dead Asleep” notes the theory that the memory of him being awake just minutes before the slaying could have been a dream or an imagined memory. Still, it was that specific memory that jurors pointed to as the reason for why they ultimately convicted Herman in 2019. “The way that the jurors explained it to me was when they put the timeline together they felt that he couldn’t have returned back to a deep sleep,” “Dead Asleep” director Skye Borgman said in an interview earlier this month. “Circumstances including prior behavior, alcohol use, his sleep patterns, I think he [Ewing] said it’s possible that he could have [been sleepwalking and in a deep sleep] but also possible that he could not have returned back to sleep.”She said that ultimately jurors determined that the timeline the way that they saw it, if he didn’t imagine that interaction with Brooke, then he would not have been able to have returned to a deep sleep state. The timeline was such a big motivating factor for them in seeing how this sequence of events played out,” she said. “They felt more convinced that he wasn’t sleepwalking at the time.”Heman, now 28, was sentenced to life behind bars. Last month, Herman filed a motion to try to get his conviction vacated. He wants a new trial and argues that his defense was wrong to claim that sleepwalking was a mental illness, the Palm Beach Post reported.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/darkest-mysteries-online-the-strange-and-unusual-podcast-2025--5684156/support.Darkest Mysteries Online
