The 1986 Disappearance of 7-Month-Old Christopher Abeyta

The 1986 Disappearance of 7-Month-Old Christopher Abeyta

Skip straight to the case: (9:41)

On July 15, 1986, Christopher Abeyta was around 7 months old. He fell asleep in his older sister’s arms and was carried to his crib, which was located three feet from the bed of his parents.

When his mother Bernice awoke the following morning, Christopher was nowhere to be seen. Now, almost 40 years later, no trace of Christopher has ever been found.

The Abeyta family are adamant that someone known to the family abducted Christopher. They have publicly named a woman as a suspect. This woman was having an affair with Christopher’s father Gil, and was known to have a history of mental health issues.

Could someone have abducted Christopher and raised him as their own? Or was the baby a victim of foul play?

Halloween Crimes | Chelsea Bruck, Cindy Song & The Liske Family

Halloween Crimes | Chelsea Bruck, Cindy Song & The Liske Family

TIMESTAMPS Delphi Update: (10:00) Halloween Crimes: (18:26) A Northeastern University professor claims that violent crimes increase by as much as 50% on Halloween, which is two times the daily average. In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss three cases that happened on Halloween.   In 2014 in Michigan, Chelsea Bruck dressed up as Poison Ivy and attended a large Halloween party.  Her friends offered her a ride home after the party ended and she declined.  She was never seen alive again.  Chelsea’s battered body was found dumped in the woods months later.  A man named Daniel Clay has been charged with her murder, and he was sentenced to life in prison.   Cindy Song dressed up as a bunny for Halloween in 2001.  She waved goodbye to her friends at the end of the night.  She went into her apartment and took off her false eyelashes.  For some reason, at around 4am, Cindy left her apartment for the final time.  She has never been seen again.   Devon Griffin arrived back to his mother’s home in Martin, Ohio on October 31, 2010.  His parents were divorced and he had been spending time at his father’s house.  When he went inside, he found what he thought was a Halloween prank.  His bemusement turned to horror when he found his mother Susan Liske, brother Derek and step-father Bill Liske all dead in their bedrooms.  Devon’s step-brother BJ Liske would be charged with the murders of his family – he blamed mental illness and Satan for his actions.    Read our blogs for these cases - Halloween Crimes We are now on Patreon!  Thank you for your support. Strange Disappearances | Jared Shadeed, Prisma Reyes & Gwen Brunelle

Strange Disappearances | Jared Shadeed, Prisma Reyes & Gwen Brunelle

TIMESTAMP: (4:51) In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss three separate cases of missing people. Jared Shadeed was a successful Immigration Attorney in Washington, D.C. In the Summer of 2023, Jared suddenly quit the job that he had worked so hard for, packed up his vehicle and headed on a cross-country road trip.  On July 30, Jared was seen on CCTV checking into an Airbnb in Seattle, Washington.  He took his laptop, phone and luggage into the property and he left again.  He has not been seen since.  Jared’s car was found abandoned days later, with the keys inside, in Los Angeles. Prisma Reyes had lunch with her on-again, off-again boyfriend Ryan in April 2019 in Mesquite, Texas.  The two got into an argument and her boyfriend stormed off, leaving Prisma at the bar alone.  She remained there for a few hours, drinking until the bartender cut her off.  Prisma left the venue and became involved in a road rage incident where she showed a gun to the other party.  She left the scene before police could arrive.   Prisma was last seen on CCTV soon after that, in the parking garage of Ryan’s apartment complex.  She seems unsteady on her feet and can be seen talking on the phone.  Prisma leaves the view of the camera and has not been seen since.    Law enforcement have said that Ryan is not a suspect in her case. In June 2023, Gwen Brunelle told her parents and her boyfriend that she was leaving home in Boise, Idaho to go on a road trip to Fresno, California.  Gwen’s hobby and passion was showing rabbits and she told her family that she was going to meet with a judge in that industry.  Gwen packed up her 11 rabbits and hit the road.    On Friday June 30, a police officer found Gwen’s car abandoned with her rabbits inside – many of them had perished in the heat.  Gwen was nowhere to be found.  After her disappearance, her family found out that she never had plans to meet anyone in Fresno and CCTV showed some erratic behavior on Gwen’s part.   As of October 2023, she remains missing. The Disappearance of Madalina Cojocari & The Rescue of Charlotte Sena

The Disappearance of Madalina Cojocari & The Rescue of Charlotte Sena

TIMESTAMPS Madalina Cojocari (7:35) Every 40 seconds, a child goes missing or is abducted in the United States. Approximately 840,000 people are reported missing each year and the F.B.I. estimates that between 85 and 90 percent of these are children. In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the separate cases of Madalina Cojocari and Charlotte Sena. Madalina Cojocari was 11 years old when she was last seen getting off the school bus in North Carolina on November 21, 2022.  Madalina did not attend school after that date.  By mid December, school officials were concerned and asked to meet with Madalina and her parents.  Madalina’s mother Diana showed up to the school on December 15 and confessed that she did not know where her daughter was.  The FBI became involved quickly.  Madalina’s case is strange and confusing.   Both her mother and step-father have been arrested and charged with failing to report the disappearance of a child.  As of October 2023, Madalina remains missing. Charlotte Sena (9) was camping with her family in a state park in New York on September 30, 2023.  She told her cousins that she was going for a quick bike ride before returning to their campsite.  Her family became alarmed very quickly when she did not return, and they found her bike abandoned nearby.  A few days later, on October 2, a man named Craig Ross Jr delivered a ransom note to the Sena home.  It is believed he forced Charlotte to write the note, and in it, he demanded $50,000 for her safe return.  Police moved quickly and tracked him down hours later.  Charlotte was found alive, hidden in a cupboard in his grimy trailer.  Read our blogs for these cases: Madalina Cojocari & Charlotte Sena We are now on Patreon!  Thank you for your support. From Family Blogger to Felon | Ruby Franke & 8 Passengers

From Family Blogger to Felon | Ruby Franke & 8 Passengers

TIMESTAMPS: Suzanne Morphew & Crystal Rogers: (6:44) Ruby Franke: (13:45)    Ruby Franke was one of the original YouTube ‘stars’.  Her channel, 8 Passengers, had millions of subscribers at its peak.  The channel chronicled the life of Ruby, her husband Kevin and their six children in Utah.   What started as Ruby posting videos of her daily life, soon turned into something more.  Ruby made videos regarding the strict treatment of her children – she would withhold food as punishment and at one point even made the children do chores to be able to use the bathroom.   Authorities were called and did an investigation into the Franke family.  Ruby seemed to shrug it off and the family went about their daily lives.   Ruby’s marriage to Kevin had broken down.  Ruby had partnered up with Jodi Hildebrandt, who called herself a counsellor.  The two started new social  media accounts called ‘Moms of Truth’ where they posted their extreme parenting tips and views on topics such as immigration and sexual abuse.   In August 2023, a child in Utah escaped from a home and ran to a neighboring property.  The child was emaciated and malnourished and had wounds embedded in his skin from being shackled.  The child was Ruby Franke’s son.      Ruby and Jodi were arrested and charged with six counts of aggravated child abuse, a felony. Both are being held without bail.   In this episode, we discuss the fall of Ruby Franke and the heinous crimes she and Jodi Hildebrandt allegedly committed.   There have been some big updates in the cases of Suzanne Morphew and Crystal Rogers and we discuss those in this episode, as well. Delphi Odinism Docs Explained

Delphi Odinism Docs Explained

TIMESTAMP: (5:37) For anyone unfamiliar with the Delphi murder case, Indiana teens Liberty German and Abigail Williams were murdered on February 13, 2017.  An arrest in the case was finally made in 2022 when local Richard Allen was arrested for the murders of the girls.  Last week, a 136 page court document was filed by the defense outlining the reasons they believe the case wasn't properly investigated. The defense is alleging evidence was manipulated and that the girls were murdered as part of a ritualistic sacrifice by white nationalists who practice a Norse pagan religion. In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we run through the new court documents.  The documents go into graphic detail about the crime scene so listener discretion is advised.  *** NOTE: Since recording, the state responded to the defense's filing stating they had enough probable cause for the search warrant on Richard Allen's home. *** Read our blog on this update here We are now on Patreon!  Thank you for your support.

Murdered While Hiking | Rachel Morin, Meredith Emerson & Lauren Heike

Murdered While Hiking | Rachel Morin, Meredith Emerson & Lauren Heike

TIMESTAMPS Mackenzie Shirilla final thoughts (7:01) Hiking Murders (10:36) According to a study by the Outdoor Industry Association, 43% of women who hike have experienced some form of violence or harassment while on a trail. This includes everything from unwanted comments or advances to actual physical assault. In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the cases of three different women who were murdered while hiking. Rachel Morin went for a hike in Bel Air, Maryland on August 5, 2023.  Her boyfriend raised the alarm later that night when she didn’t return.  Her body was found on a trail the following day.  Rachel’s killer is still at large and police believe he may be responsible for an assault in Los Angeles earlier this year.  The worry is that the perpetrator is escalating in the severity of his crimes. Meredith Emerson took her dog Ella for a hike on New Year’s Day in 2008.  She ran across Gary Michael Hilton on the trail.  Gary attacked Meredith and he kept her alive for three terrifying days, before brutally murdering and decapitating her.  Gary has since been charged with three additional murders. Lauren Heike had recently moved from Washington to Arizona.  She told a friend on April 28, 2023 that she was grateful to be able to get a coffee and go for a walk that day.  Lauren did not show up for work when she was meant to and her body was found on April 29.  She had been stabbed 15 times while out for a walk.  Zion William Teasley (22) has been arrested and charged with Lauren’s seemingly random murder. Hell on Wheels | Mackenzie Shirilla

Hell on Wheels | Mackenzie Shirilla

Ohio teen Mackenzie Shirilla had been dating Dominic Russo for years and their relationship was described as tumultuous.  A friend overhead an argument between the two in July 2022 where Mackenzie threatened to crash the car she was driving, with both of them in it. A few weeks later, Mackenzie did exactly that.  Early one morning, after a night of partying, she crashed her vehicle into a wall at 100mph.  Dominic died along with a friend of the pair, Davion Flanagan.  Mackenzie was injured and taken to hospital, where she recovered. By October 2022, Mackenzie was well enough to dress up as a corpse for Halloween, despite just losing two of her closest friends. Mackenzie was eventually arrested and her case has just gone to court.  She was convicted and is currently serving a minimum of 15 years in prison.  Her family argue that the crash was an accident caused by a medical condition, but the judge did not believe that story.  In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the case of Mackenzie Shirilla. We also discuss creepy updates in the case of the BTK serial killer.  Police have released sketches done by Dennis Rader and have asked the public for help in identifying the people and locations in the drawings.  We discuss these developments in this episode. Vacation Nightmares | Elly Warren & Heather Mack

Vacation Nightmares | Elly Warren & Heather Mack

As summer draws to a close in the Northern Hemisphere, we are going to discuss two Vacation Nightmare cases in this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast. Australian woman Elly Warren travelled to Africa in 2016 for the trip of a lifetime.  She had been scuba diving with marine biologists and had been swimming with Manta Rays.  One night, towards the end of her vacation, she went to a bar in Tofo Beach, Mozambique for a few drinks and to catch up with friends.  She indicated to the group that she was going to get a drink and she would be back to join them.  When Elly didn’t come back, her friends assumed she had gone back to their hostel.  Elly’s body was found the next morning, outside a public bathroom.  Mozambique officials have given varying stories about how Elly died.  Her family believes she was murdered and an investigation is ongoing to this day. Heather Mack and her mother Sheila had a contentious relationship.  Police were called to their family home on average once a month.  There were allegations of abuse and violence between the pair.  In 2014, Sheila paid for herself and Heather to fly first class to Bali for a vacation.  They checked into luxury hotels, but their relaxation didn’t last long.  Heather stole her mother’s credit card and bought airplane tickets for her boyfriend Tommy to join them in Bali.  When Tommy arrived in Bali, he fought with Sheila and their altercation turned deadly.  Sheila was beaten to death and her body was stuffed in a suitcase.  Heather and Tommy were arrested in connection with her murder and they were incarcerated in Indonesian prisons.  Heather was pregnant at the time of the murder – she gave birth and her baby lived in the squalid jail cell with her for years. In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the cases of murdered Australian woman Elly Warren and the case of suitcase murderer Heather Mack. **TIMESTAMP** If you’d like to skip straight to the crime content, please go to (11:18) Read our blogs for these cases - https://truecrimesocietyblog.com/2023/09/05/australian-woman-elly-warren-murdered-in-mozambique/ https://truecrimesocietyblog.com/2023/09/05/heather-mack-the-bali-suitcase-murder/ We are now on Patreon!  Thank you for your support -  patreon.com/Truecrimesociety
