Bavarian Podcast Works: DFL-Supercup Preview Show — Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich
In his first “final” in the DFL-Supercup, Julian Nagelsmann will fight for a trophy as manager of Bayern Munich against Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund is not his favorite rival; time and time again, Dortmund took Leipzig apart, including in the DFB-Pokal finale. Both sides have defensive injuries to contend with. Mats Hummels is seemingly out and Emre Can is a doubt as well. A makeshift defense consisting of Felix Passlack, Axel Witsel, Manuel Akanji and Nico Schulz. Bayern has to deal with the absence of Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez; seemingly, Josip Stanisic will retain his place at right-back going into this match up.Marco Rose’s Dortmund pressed incessantly against Frankfurt. Bayern did not seem too press-resistant against Borussia Mönchengladbach on the other hand. The Bavarians look rather rusty and a Dortmund fixture might be coming at a bad time for Nagelsmann’s charges. Some topics discussed on this podcast:Why this game matters for both sidesA review of Dortmund’s performance against Eintracht FrankfurtSome issues in Bayern’s game against GladbachDayot Upamecano’s issues against physically imposing strikersIssues at the back for both sides.Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. Bavarian Podcast Works: First impressions and a new dynamic duo?
The 2021/2022 Bundesliga season is officially upon us and match week 1 is officially in the books! Bayern Munich opened up their campaign with an entertaining 1-1 draw at Borussia Monchengladbach with the goals from Alassane Plea and Robert Lewandowski (who else?). It was Julian Nagelsmann’s first competitive match in charge as Bayern manager, but he was forced to field a handful of younger or fringe players, particularly in defense, with the amount of injuries the squad has already accumulated. Josip Stanisic impressed, Dayot Upamecano was decent, but there’s still plenty of work to do for Nagelsmann as he know switches gears to prep for the midweek DFL-Supercup against Borussia Dortmund. For the first time ever on Bavarian Podcast Works, Tom and Ineednoname team up for this week’s flagship episode. We had to work to find a time to record, living on opposite ends of the globe, but it was a pleasure to get a new voice on the flagship show, as we’re making it a point this season to get some more voices involved on the podcast. This could be the birth of a new dynamic duo, with no discredit to Chuck or Jake, though I never shy away from making fun of Chuck. Let us know how we did in the comments section and thanks again for listening with us. We look forward to the rest of the season and being able to share it with all of you! Yet again, we’re providing you the best audio content by giving you a wrap-up and recap of this most recent match. In this episode Tom and Ineednoname discuss:-Our first impressions thus far of Nagelsmann-The crazy landscape of the transfer market this summer-Whether or not we think Bayern will sign Marcel Sabitzer from RB Leipzig-The wage structure at Bayern-Who we think Bayern’s biggest European rivals will be this season-And more!Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. BPW Postgame Show: Talking points from Bayern Munich’s opening day draw to Gladbach
It was an opening day disaster for Bayern Munich as they failed to beat Borussia Monchengladbach away from home. Okay, maybe “disaster” is a bit strong, but the performance wasn’t that good. Julian Nagelsmann’s tenure as coach has started inauspiciously, with him failing to win a single game so far. Is this a sign of things to come? Talking points from the game:Just how good is Alphonso Davies?Josip Stanisic shows promise. Gnabry and Sane are letting the team down at the moment. Was Thomas Muller less involved?Nagelsmann needs to adjust to Bayern, not the other way around. Upamecano’s troubles with physical strikers. As always, thank you for the support! Bavarian Podcast Works: Weekend Warm-up Episode 12 — The latest on Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, and Corentin Tolisso; Why Brazzo might need to sign Marcel Sabitzer; The fun season ahead; and MORE!
Another week is in the books for Bayern Munich and what a week it was. It seems as if it is only a matter of time before the team officially extends the contract of Joshua Kimmich, but the club’s rumored pursuit of Marcel Sabitzer could have hit a roadblock. Regardless, here are the topics we have on tap: The mayhem in the midfield with potential contract extensions for Kimmich and Leon Goretzka, the pursuit of Sabitzer, and possible sale of Corentin Tolisso. The curious case of Leroy Sane and why this year is so important for both the Sane and Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidzic — despite the former Manchester City man not wanting to be judged by his goals or assists. The uncertain season ahead of Julian Nagelsmann — especially after declaring his roster was a bit thin. As always, thank you for the support! After what’s been an incredibly ridiculous 17 months since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, it’s genuinely hard to believe that yet another Bundesliga season for Bayern Munich is upon us. Bavarian Podcast Works Postgame Show: Bayern Munich loses to Napoli, 0-3, goes into season a bit rusty
Julian Nagelsmann will be glad preseason friendlies are over after yet another average showing by Bayern Munich . In what was good news, many starters returned and played 45 or more minutes. Robert Lewandowski captained the side for the day; other regulars included Leroy Sané, Leon Goretzka, Benjamin Pavard, Kingsley Coman among others, Coman would not last long, sustaining an injury early in the first half and being taken off for Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.There were chances from Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry, Dayot Upamecano and Choupo-Moting in the first half but the teams went into the half 0-0. Julian Nagelsmann made nine changes to start off the second half. The changes would disrupt flow, particularly at the back, and Bayern would go on to concede three quick goals in the last 20 or so minutes to lose 0-3.Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany.
