A portion of our Young Turks Main Show from January 4th, 2018. For more go to http://www.tytnetwork.com/join. Hour 1: Cenk. More details in Michael Wolff's book: how stupid Trump is, how big of a child he is. Lawyers on behalf of President Donald Trump sent a letter Wednesday night to former White House Chief Strategist Stephen Bannon demanding he refrain from making disparaging comments against the president and his family. One of the craziest excerpts, and that’s saying a lot, in Michael Wolff’s upcoming White House tell-all is a dinner between Steve Bannon and deceased Fox News CEO Roger Ailes, in which Ailes tells Bannon that President Donald Trump “would jump through hoops” for both Rupert Murdoch and Vladimir Putin. This dinner also allegedly presented the two discussing Trump’s foreign policy acumen, or lack thereof, of the looming threat of China, as well as the creation of a brand new news network, which is alleged to have already counted Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly as two of its on-air personalities. The problem here, to many, is who to trust. Ailes is dead and Bannon is disgraced. The Hollywood Reporter’s co-president Janice Min stated on Twitter that Wolff’s transcript of the evening is totally on-point. Hour 2: A new excerpt from Michael Wolff’s upcoming book "Fire and Fury" claims that President Trump made provocative comments about White House communications director Hope Hicks that sent her running out of the room. Hicks and former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski reportedly had an on-again, off-again relationship which appeared to be a source of controversy. Donald Trump on how far he would go to sleep with his friends’ wives. Virginia murderer was a neo-Nazi and tweeted about hating Jews and loving Hitler. Talks about pushing LGBT to commit suicide. A portion of our Young Turks Main Show from January 3rd, 2018. For more go to http://www.tytnetwork.com/join. Hour 1: Cenk & John. Donald Trump’s former chief strategist Steve Bannon has described the Trump Tower meeting between the president’s son and a group of Russians during the 2016 election campaign as “treasonous” and “unpatriotic”, according to an explosive new book seen by the Guardian. Bannon, speaking to author Michael Wolff, warned that the investigation into alleged collusion with the Kremlin will focus on money laundering and predicted: “They’re going to crack Don Junior like an egg on national TV.” Trump tweets response to Steve Bannon. *Cenk predicts Jared Kushner flipping on Trump* Hour 2: On Tuesday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders defended Trump’s time on the links when asked by Yahoo News reporter Hunter Walker what his biggest accomplishment there has been. “I think it would certainly be developing deeper and better relationships with members of Congress in which those relationships have helped push forward the president’s agenda ― specifically when it comes to helping get the tax reform and tax cuts passed,” Sanders said, adding, “He has played golf with a number of senators and used that time certainly to accomplish that.” Researchers from Dartmouth College, Princeton University, and the University of Exeter found that around one in four Americans visited a fake news website in the weeks before and after the 2016 election. The study notes that this consumption of fake news was “heavily concentrated among a small group”—almost six in ten visits to fake news websites came from just 10% of Americans, and that those visitors were deeply pro-Trump. It’s now also illegal to ingest pot and drive a vehicle under bill taking effect Jan. 1 that outlaws smoking and ingesting marijuana, just as it’s already unlawful for drivers or passengers to drink alcohol while driving. A separate law that took effect in June bars the possession of open containers of cannabis while driving. Fox & Friends: illegal immigrants will come to CA to smoke weed. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) is publicly expressing concern for the same tax reform bill that he recently voted for. Rubio said the bill may help corporations too much and that the special counsel led by Robert Mueller should continue. Hour 2: Cenk & Ana. The US has branded as "complete nonsense" Iran's accusation that its enemies have been behind a wave of violent protests sweeping the country. Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had made the accusation in his first comments on the protests. US envoy to the UN Nikki Haley said the protests were "spontaneous", adding that the US planned to call an emergency UN meeting on the situation. The unrest began last Thursday and has seen 22 people killed. The demonstrations, which started in the city of Mashhad, were initially against price rises and corruption, but then began to express wider anti-government sentiment. Hosted on Acast. The Post said that Times reporter Michael Schmidt gained access to the president at Mar-a-Lago on Thursday after club member Christopher Ruddy introduced the president and the reporter. No aides were present during the on-the-record session. Segment 2 President Donald Trump has already predicted he will win re-election in 2020, and that the news media will cheerlead his path to victory because "they basically have to let me win." Trump gave a wide-ranging and impromptu 30-minute interview with The New York Times' Michael Schmidt at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Thursday, in which he said the media will embrace the president ahead of the 2020 election because it's in their financial interest to do so. "Another reason that I’m going to win another four years is because newspapers, television, all forms of media will tank if I’m not there because without me, their ratings are going down the tubes,” Trump said. The Young Turks 12.26.17: Merry Christmas, Mar-a-Lago, Police Shot Child, and Neo-Nazi Murder
A portion of our Young Turks Main Show from December 26th, 2017. For more go to http://www.tytnetwork.com/join. Hour 1: Cenk. Trump wishes the troops a Merry Christmas. President Donald Trump joined his family at their “Winter White House” for the holidays Friday night after signing the GOP tax bill into law, and reportedly told wealthy friends dining at Mar-a-Lago, “You all just got a lot richer.” As Democrats launch an aggressive campaign to challenge Republicans in congressional races across the country in 2018, the party is faced with an uncomfortable rift over one key issue: whether to use a potential majority in the House to impeach the president. Recent polling shows that a majority of Democrats — up to 75% — support impeaching President Donald Trump. A late October poll found that 49% of all voters support impeachment. And this fall, Democratic mega-donor Tom Steyer launched a $10 million national television and digital ad campaign calling for Democrats to impeach the president, whose approval ratings recently dipped to 32%. Earlier this month, 58 House Democrats, led by Rep. Al Green of Texas, voted to impeach Trump, defying party leadership, including Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who said now "is not the time" to consider impeachment. "I think a lot of the base would push strongly for impeachment. I think many of us feel like the lines have been crossed.” But Democratic lawmakers are mixed on the issue. Many are wary that pursuing removal charges may alienate independents and conservative Democrats, costing them their majority in the House, if they do manage to flip the chamber next year. Hour 2: Cenk, Hannah Cranston, & Aida Rodriguez. Four sheriff's deputies firing at a wanted felon shot and killed a 6-year-old boy when at least one round went through the wall of his San Antonio-area mobile home and struck him, sheriff's officials said. A 17-year-old neo-Nazi was charged with two counts of murder Saturday after he allegedly murdered his girlfriend’s parents. Scott Fricker, 48, and his wife Buckley Kuhn-Fricker, 43, were shot and killed in their home in Reston, Virginia, on Friday. The teenager, who is not named due to his minor status, shot the Frickers after getting into their home. Police indicate that the teen also suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and is currently in critical condition. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. The Young Turks 12.20.17: Tax Bill, Star Wars, and Catt Sadler
A portion of our Young Turks Main Show from December 20th, 2017. For more go to http://www.tytnetwork.com/join. Hour 1: Cenk & John. Ryan and McConnell have ushered the biggest tax overhaul in a generation through Congress and delivered President Donald Trump his first major legislative victory since Inauguration Day. But on the periphery is palpable angst, particularly in the House. Just hours before the Tuesday vote, some House Republicans fretted privately about the prospect of getting railroaded into propping up Obamacare by the end of the week. And conservatives have been stewing quietly over a looming legislative package coming in early January that most believe will increase spending and codify an Obama-era immigration program they believe is illegal. Hour 2: Are SJW's ruining Star Wars? Catt Sadler has quit her position as an E! News host after discovering that she was being paid about half of what her male co-host, Jason Kennedy, was making. Sadler had been with E! for years, appearing on TV since 2006 as a host of The Daily 10 and then E! News. This year, she also became the host of Daily Pop, a two-hour daytime show, and an E! executive informed her of the “massive disparity” in pay around the time she took on that gig. Shortly after that, E! reached out to renew her contract, and she decided to fight. Facial recognition-based features are nothing new to Facebook.
