205 // Master the Mundane: Thriving as a Mom with ADHD - with Amy Marie Hann

If you’re a mom with ADHD (or parenting kids with ADHD), daily life can feel like constant overcommitment, burnout, and chaos. But what if instead of pushing harder, you learned to strategically parent your brain?

In this conversation, I’m joined by Amy Marie Hann—author of Master the Mundane: How to Manage Your Life, Home, and Family as a Mom with ADHD which comes out September 10, 2025. Diagnosed at five with ADHD and raising three neurodivergent kids, Amy brings both lived experience and practical strategies for building rhythms that actually work for the ADHD brain.

Together we talk about:

  • The differences between the boredom zone, depletion zone, ADHD burnout, and activation zone—and how to recognize which one you’re in
  • Why urgency feels motivating but creates unnecessary chaos in everyday life (and what to do instead)
  • What “executive function capacity” is, and how to “budget” it like a bank account
  • How to use the Daily 3 to keep life moving even on burnout or low-energy days
  • A realistic plan for balancing novelty with capacity so you don’t overcommit
  • How to ditch “rage decluttering” and instead create sustainable habits for your home

If you’ve ever felt like your ADHD brain is working against you, this episode will help you see that it’s not broken - it just needs the right strategies and support to thrive.

About Amy: Amy Marie Hann is the author of Master the Mundane: How to Manage Your Life, Home, and Family as a Mom with ADHD. Diagnosed with ADHD at age five, she’s now a mom of three, a foster and adoptive parent, and a homeschooling mom who has navigated life with ADHD alongside her husband, kids, dad, and sister. Amy believes the ADHD brain is uniquely designed to bring good to the world—and that the greatest gift moms can give their ADHD kids is modeling what it looks like to thrive.

146 // “Don’t Cause Your Own Chaos” - Reduce Your Overwhelm, Find Contentment, and Embrace Your Season of Motherhood - with Andrea Dekker

Sometimes when we are feeling overwhelmed, we have to ask ourselves some hard questions, like: “Am I causing my own chaos?” When we understand our non-negotiables and say yes to what aligns with our values rather than what we think others expect from us, we can enjoy contentment in our motherhood. In today’s episode I’m chatting with Andrea Dekker, a wife and mother of 4 young children who loves nothing more than being home! Andrea blogs at andreadekker.com, where she shares her passions for creating a peaceful home, pursuing a simpler + slower lifestyle, and encouraging women in all stages of life to lean into their values and live more intentionally. We chat about the transition to motherhood that caused her to feel overwhelmed, how she learned to start saying “no” and embrace her season of motherhood, and what back-to-school routines look like in her home! 143 // Define Your Motherhood Legacy - My Interview on the Mom Made Plans Podcast with Julie Redmond

When you think of the word “legacy”, what comes to mind? What we leave behind for the ones we love? What if I told you that the legacy we leave our kids is a result of our actions today? In this eye-opening conversation with Julie Redmond on the Mom Made Plans podcast, we discuss the unhealthy coping mechanisms (including scrolling) that I’ve used to deal with the stresses of motherhood, and how recognizing the legacy I wanted to leave has allowed me to shift my perspective. I also offer some tactical strategies on how to leave a legacy by how we live in the mundane moments of motherhood. Julie, a two-time guest on Moms Overcoming Overwhelm, is a twin mom and host of the  Mom Made Plans podcast.  She is on a mission to make mom-life feel easier by getting out of survival mode and into intentional motherhood. She fully believes no routine or system will work until you know how you work. That means using self awareness filled strategies to become more efficient and impactful in your home.
