Episode 41: 'Queer' & 'Belladonna of Sadness'

Rosa and Joku review and analyze 'Queer' a 2024 romantic drama film directed by Luca Guadagnino, based on the novella by William S. Burroughs, set in 1950s Mexico City. It follows an American expatriate, played by Daniel Craig, who becomes infatuated with a younger man, exploring themes of desire and loneliness. We also review and analyze 'Balladonna of Sadness' a 1973 Japanese animated surrealist art film produced by the animation studio Mushi Production and distributed by Nippon Herald Films. It follows the story of Jeanne, a peasant woman who makes a faustian deal with the devil after she is assaulted by the local nobility on the night of her wedding day.
