Supreme Court Rejects Kim Davis Appeal

This morning, the Supreme Court without comment, declined to consider a petition from Kim Davis, a former county clerk in Kentucky who had refused on religious grounds to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Davis was briefly jailed in 2015 for contempt of court after ignoring an order to issue the licenses. She has since been ordered to pay more than $350,000 in damages and attorney’s fees. Today's decision by the Supreme Court not to hear the case, which is known as Obergefell v. Hodges... keeps the lower-court financial judgments and precedent in place.
