MELODEE, 9, MISSING, MOMMY: 'NO COMMENT,' WALKS FREE WITH ANKLE MONITOR

MELODEE, 9, MISSING, MOMMY: 'NO COMMENT,' WALKS FREE WITH ANKLE MONITOR

When Melodee Buzzard is first reported missing, school officials fear the little girl hasn’t been seen in more than a year.

The school district discovers Melodee was seen much more recently, enrolling in another year of homeschooling.
Santa Barbara County sheriffs then find that her mom, Ashlee Buzzard, left Lompoc with Melodee on October 7; they were spotted together at a car rental.

Security footage caught Melodee for the last time on October 9. Buzzard returns home the next day, alone. Melodee has now been missing for 35 days.

The only photo authorities have of Melodee is more than two years out of date, as the little girl is “homeschooled” in Vandenberg Village, just north of Lompoc, California.

Ashley Buzzard was arrested on Nov 7 for false imprisonment, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office. Ashley's arrest was for false imprisonment. This is not a child-related charge. So, this arrest is not related to Melodee. And it's not related to the ongoing missing person case directly. But, it is a case that came up amid this missing person case.

Four days after her arrest, Ashlee Buzzard entered a not guilty plea to false imprisonment. Prosecutors argue that Buzzard should remain incarcerated due to her flight risk and potential for violence.

However, her attorneys counter that she does not own a vehicle and did not specifically threaten Brewer with a box cutter. The judge agrees to grant Buzzard bail under close supervision and orders Buzzard to stay away from Brewer.
The 40-year-old is once again walking free.

DIDDY KNIFE ATTACK: VICTIM AMBUSHES COMBS WITH KNIFE AFTER ALLEGED RAPE

DIDDY KNIFE ATTACK: VICTIM AMBUSHES COMBS WITH KNIFE AFTER ALLEGED RAPE

While Sean Diddy Combs has been sued 42 times in just over a year, the disgraced mogul has just filed one of his own. Combs has logged a $50 million defamation lawsuit against grand jur witness Courtney Burgess and his lawyer Ariel Mitchell. Combs accuses Burgess of ‘pretending to have proof that Mr. Combs engaged in heinous acts, knowing no such proof exists,’ referring to sex tapes Burgess claims depict Combs sexually assaulting celebrities and minors. Also named in Combs suit is Nexstar Media Inc., the parent company of News Nation, who first publicized Burgess’ claims to be in possession of 8 recordings of Sean Combs’ sexual assaults, and Kim Porter’s real memoir. The complaint alleges that the cable news network aired Burgess’ assertions to thousands of viewers without looking into their credibility. Combs’ claims the fallout from the ‘outrageous lies’ have led the public to view him as a “debauched ‘monster’ and a pedophile,” and has further tainted the potential jury pool for his upcoming criminal trial. Burgess maintains that he is telling the truth about receiving a flash drive containing the video files and Porter’s manuscript through an intermediary. Burgess calling Diddy out for having the nerve to sue, when he will <quote> “rot in jail for what he’s done.” His lawyer, Ariell Mitchell, who claims to have seen the tapes, stands by Burgess, calling Combs’ suit a pathetic ploy to silence victims and those who stand up for them, and has plans to countersue. Sources close to Kim Porter say they had never heard of Burgess before his interviews and have reason to doubt his claims. In another case, Ashley Parham discusses more disturbing details of her alleged gang rape at the hands of Diddy and his associates. Parham claims several men in Combs’ entourage held her down while Chief of Staff Kristina Khorram tried to insert an IUD into her. She says when the device failed, Combs’ flew into a rage and began violently raping her with a TV remote before forcing himself on her and encouraging his associates do the same. Parham says she armed herself with a kitchen knife when she woke up alone after the attack and found Combs and the other men smoking in the backyard. Parham claims Combs’ was nonchalant when she confronted him, and in a fit of rage, she tried to stab the mogul, who begged for his life. Parham says her ‘moral compass’ snapped back into place and she ran to a neighbor's home after the knife fight, where she claims she spoke with a Contra Costa Sheriff’s deputy. HUSBAND FINDS WIFE DEAD AT BOTTOM OF STAIRS, GOES ON BEER RUN

HUSBAND FINDS WIFE DEAD AT BOTTOM OF STAIRS, GOES ON BEER RUN

Autumn Mercado’s coworker at the Huntsman Cancer Institute tells police she is worried something happened to Autumn. Mercado did not show up for work. The nurse reports that Autumn’s husband has a history of domestic violence and fears it may have escalated. West Jordan police officers respond to 7800 South and Iron Core Lane for a welfare check. Autumn’s husband, Carlos Mercado Jr., answers the door, visibly intoxicated, with alcohol on his breath. He appears relieved to see them, claiming he was just about to call. As officers follow him inside, they see a woman’s body covered with a blanket at the foot of the stairs. Mercado struggles to maintain his balance and slurs his speech. He tells officers he found Autumn about six hours earlier but did not realize she was dead. He says he assumed she was sleeping off the drinks they had the night before. Officers notice several open alcohol containers in the kitchen and living room. Mercado says he and Autumn drank heavily late into the night, and he fell asleep around 4 a.m. When he wakes at 8:40 a.m., he finds Autumn at the bottom of the stairs but cannot wake her. He tells police he believes she passed out from vertigo and fell. Instead of calling 911, he covers her with a blanket, orders a Lyft, and goes to a gas station for more beer, leaving their 1- and 4-year-old children home alone with their mother’s body. BABY SHOWER FRIENDS SEARCH FOR MISSING MOM, 28, DAMNING POLICE BODYCAM EMERGES

BABY SHOWER FRIENDS SEARCH FOR MISSING MOM, 28, DAMNING POLICE BODYCAM EMERGES

Naresh Bhatt has been held without bond since August on a felony charge of concealing a dead body, now a grand jury hands up a murder indictment against the man who was married to Mamta Kafle Bhatt. Naresh Bhatt now faces state charges of murder and defiling a body. The charge for defiling a body is due to evidence that shows the body of Mamta Kafle Bhatt was dismembered. Manassas Park Police Chief Mario Lugo says DNA tests proved blood found in Kafle Bhatt’s bedroom belonged to Mamta, with evidence showing she was killed on July 29. Investigators have been testing evidence found at the Bhatt residence, including what appeared to be blood found on a handheld power saw. DNA testing by Virginia's Department of Forensic Science reports the blood found on the reciprocating power saw matches the DNA profile created by Mamta Kafle Bhatt's hairbrush. This along with new body cam footage give insight into the investigation. Prosecutors are notifiying the court they intend to offer up results of DNA analysis. It is a state law in Virginia that the commonwealth has to give the defense a notice of intent as the first step to get that DNA evidence into the trial. The state is providing four certificates of analysis from the Virginia Department of Forensic Science showing results of the DNA evidence collected during the investigation. DNA was collected from Mamta's hairbrush, a piece of carpet, a garbage can, and a reciprocating saw and knives. Naresh Bhatt's trial is scheduled for September 8. MOM "ALL DOLLED UP" TAKING SELFIES, TOT-SON, 3, DROWNS, SUES WATER PARK

MOM "ALL DOLLED UP" TAKING SELFIES, TOT-SON, 3, DROWNS, SUES WATER PARK

The Camp Cohen Waterpark in northeast El Paso is holding a "soft opening" as staff prepares for the summer. The playful sounds of children at the park are interrupted by lifeguards blowing whistles and ordering everyone out of the pool. An unconscious boy, not wearing a life jacket, is pulled from a four-foot-deep section of the water. Multiple signs at Camp Cohen state that children six and younger “must be directly attended by a swimming adult” at all times and “must be supervised by an adult within arm’s reach.” Parents gather around as lifeguards perform life-saving measures, but the boy's parents are not immediately identified. Jessica Weaver, a 35-year-old single mother, lounges at Camp Cohen Waterpark while her 3-year-old son, Anthony, plays among other children. The scene is disrupted by lifeguards blowing whistles and clearing the pool. About five minutes later, Jessica notices the commotion and moves toward the pool, searching for Anthony. As she approaches, she realizes lifeguards are working on her son. She jumps into the pool, rushing to him. Investigators probing the Mother’s Day weekend drowning of 3-year-old Anthony Malave are surprised to learn that his mother has filed a lawsuit against Destination El Paso, the company managing the city’s watermarks, and the City of El Paso. Jessica Weaver, represented by a Houston law firm, alleges gross negligence and wrongful death. The lawsuit claims that during the park’s “soft opening,” the city and Destination El Paso “focused more on packing the watermark with people and ensuring the live band was playing” than on safety. Two months after Jessica filed the lawsuit and nearly four months after Anthony’s death, she is arrested. Authorities in Indiana arrest Weaver on a fugitive from justice warrant issued in El Paso, Texas. After waiving extradition, she is transported to El Paso, where she is released on a $100,000 bond. Weaver’s attorneys in the wrongful death case against the city call her arrest a "retaliatory tactic" in response to her lawsuit Joining Nancy Grace today: Eric Faddis – Partner at Varner Faddis Elite Legal, Former Felony Prosecutor and Current Criminal Defense and Civil Litigation Attorney; Instagram: @e_fad @varnerfaddis; TikTok: @varnerfaddis Caryn Stark – Psychologist, renowned TV and Radio Trauma Expert and Consultant; Instagram: carynpsych, FB: Caryn Stark Private Practice Dr. Tom Griffiths -Drowning Expert - President and Founder, Aquatic Safety Research Group, co-host of the podcast “The Drowning Files”; Creator of Dr. Tom’s Lifeguard Vision app; Author of “Dr. Tom’s Lifeguard Chronicles”; “Safer Beaches” ; “Beter Beaches” and “The Complete Swimming Pool Reference”; website: www.aquaticsafetygroup.com and https://drtomslifeguardvision.com/; X: @AquaticSafetyGr; Facebook: AquaticSafetyResearchGroup Dr. Thomas Coyne - Chief Medical Examiner, District 2 Medical Examiner's Office, State of Florida; Forensic Pathologist, Neuropathologist, Toxicologist; X: @DrTMCoyne Elaine Aradillas - Investigative Reporter; X: @theelaineja, Instagram: @the_elaine See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
