Autism and thinking in black-and-white comes hand-in-hand. Here, l discuss the issue with not being able to communicate emotions. People on the autism spectrum have a difficulty with connecting to and relating their emotional issues to the outside world. The thinking process of not being able to see the grey area in thought process and only seeing in black-and-white causes some distress and emotional distress at times. I for one have experienced this first-hand issue with not being able to communicate my emotions and only seeing in black or white. That being said I do believe that restricted thinking of emotional communication like thinking in only black-and-white can help with some critical decision-making and can be a good thing at certain times.

Christmas can be a crazy time of year for people on the spectrum, here are my 5 best tips for surviving the holiday period with Aspergers. 1. Create Your Own Zone Create your own safe relaxing and calm zone find an area of your home or a room that you can create a Small relaxation spot that you can go on retreat to you if things are getting too much over the festive period. 2. Remember Ear Defenders Remember to bring a defenders to any eating engagement party social gathering or anything like that. These noise cancelling headphones or a defenders will help to save you the stress and anxiety of sensory overload from the noise of the festive period. 3. Make Food Requirements Prior Prepare food requirements and make everybody aware well ahead of any events or engagements that you may have coming up in the holiday period so that you can join in with ease. 4. Plan Your Day In November start planning out your Christmas week so you know how your days are going to be over the Christmas period make sure to know a schedule of what you’re going to do on Christmas Day Christmas Eve and Boxing Day to make sure you don’t get overwhelmed. 5. Don’t Take on Too Much Don’t take on too much over the Christmas period it’s easy to get wrapped into the saying yes to this party that event this gathering that dinner but remember you have to take care of your mental health and you know your limits so know your limits and don’t take on too many events.

Social anxiety can be so debilitating for many people. Here are 5 proven strategy’s to help you conquer anxiety for the long term.  1. Excise  Exercising will help lower anxiety in general this causing a positive affect when in social anxious situations. Decreasing generalised anxiety will help decrease anxiety disorder. 2. Plan Ahead Planning for events and social interactions can be your main tool to achieving those social situations. Setting out your goals for that interaction what you want to get out of it how long you going to be there for and when you’re going to leave I’m going to be excellent for helping you overcome social situations in small chunks. 3. Progressive Muscle Relaxation Progressive muscle relaxation is where you tensing muscles and then release those muscles but pay close attention to the feeling and the action of doing so. This helps calm and relax your body and helps relieve anxiety in general. 4. Thought Vacation  Taking a thought vacation is an excellent way to reduce anxiety. Thought vacation is where are you Imagine yourself going on a holiday or a vacation somewhere nice and hot or whatever you want. This sets your brain into thinking that it’s on holiday and it starts to relax and release in dauphins which will help you in social situations at any time. 5. Mindfulness  Mindfulness is the thing that everybody tells you to do to reduce anxiety and for good reason. Focusing on every day tasks like washing the dishes walking to work driving to work or even just driving your car or walking around your house think about the feelings that you are having the sensations that your body has in the situations, this will create a focus on you the self and reduce anxiety. Social anxiety can be crippling for lots of people and social anxiety and depression can come as a result of this. Social anxiety causes all kinds of destruction within peoples lives. A social anxiety disorder could stop you socialising with friends or family members or even work events. Some of the social anxiety disorder symptoms go under the radar because everybody is trying their best to keep up with the norm. There is no real social anxiety medicine or social anxiety test but the best way to overcome social anxiety by reducing the signs of social anxiety is taking the tips I have laid out here to reduce anxiety disorder that will also help with social phobia.
