Learn and Memorize Tarot Cards: Quick 3-Minute Lessons

Learn and Memorize Tarot Cards: Quick 3-Minute Lessons

Carrie from Quicklearn Quests helps you learn tarot through bite-sized lessons on the card symbolism.

Tarot has been a 30-year journey for me. I first learned to read tarot in a two-and-a-half-day course, and I was hooked! I loved having my cards read and wanted to demystify the process so I could read for myself and others.

At first, learning tarot felt like a memorization game—understanding the meanings of each card and how they fit into a spread. It took years to weave them into a story and even longer to trust my intuition (which, honestly, I still struggle with!).

In my professional life, I’m an instructional designer, course writer, and digital content creator. So, naturally, I wanted to create a structured way to share how I learned tarot—by focusing on the foundations, especially card symbolism.

Modern times have introduced modern tools, which help me create content in a timely manner around work and family obligations. This podcast was created with the support of AI tools for scripting and voice editing. Final content, storytelling and creative direction are all crafted and approved by me -- a real human with a real passion for this topic.

What You’ll Get from This Podcast:
  • A practical, no-fluff way to learn tarot – focused on symbolism, numerology, and core meanings.
  • A structured approach – designed for left-brained learners who prefer clear explanations before tapping into intuition.
  • Designed for all learning styles – If you’re a visual learner, I recommend looking up the Rider-Waite card images on your phone or using a physical deck while listening.
  • Beginner-friendly but valuable for experienced readers – Even if you know the basics, this podcast can help reinforce key lessons.
I love the woo-woo side of tarot, astrology, and numerology, but I also know that too much mysticism at the start can make learning tarot overwhelming. This podcast keeps things clear and structured, so you can build a strong foundation before diving deeper into intuition and spiritual exploration.

I hope you enjoy learning tarot as much as I do!

Happy Reading!
~ Carrie

I took a two and a half day course, and I was so excited to be able to take the mystery out of getting readings done for myself, and to be able to do them myself. We also have social media channels, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and all major podcast distributors such as Spotify, Apple, Audible and many others under the handle @quickLearnQuests. I am focusing mostly on my podcasts and YouTube at the moment, but I will expand into more social media more consistently when I find my feet.  Here is the transcript:Welcome to the "Memorizing Tarot Cards" podcast, your three-minute lessons on learning and memorizing each card using symbolism. I use the Rider Waite Tarot if you would like to view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring the Three of Cups, focusing on reversals. First, let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then the meaning when reversed. The Three of Cups upright is a celebration, friendship, and community card. It represents joy shared with others and the power of collaboration. When reversed, it can indicate disruptions in your social circle, misunderstandings among friends, or feeling left out of group activities. The reversed Three of Cups often indicates a lack of harmony in social settings. You might feel disconnected from friends or your community, experience tension within a group, or struggle to maintain healthy boundaries in your relationships. Next, let's discuss how to read the Three of Cups reversed in a reading. When the Three of Cups reversed appears in a reading, it often signals issues related to social dynamics. This card lets you evaluate whether they contribute to your happiness and growth. It suggests you may need time away from social activities to focus on your well-being. Sometimes, stepping back from group dynamics helps determine if the social activity or the group is a fit. Let's talk about ways to memorize the Three of Cups Reversed.  It is helpful to think of a situation in my life that I can tie to the card.  For example, my reversed Three of Cups moment is remembering when I stepped back from a newer friend.  I am new to the town that I live in, and truthfully, I have been trying to figure out where I fit socially.  I have many long-lasting friendships, so I am truly blessed.  However, finding local friends to spend time with has been a challenge.  I met a gal through our local buy and sell, and we hit it off. However, with time, I saw that the friendship wasn't a fit.  I am a fairly calm person, and she unintentionally brought a lot of drama to my life.  We got to know each other for over a year, and after a few discussions, I decided to back away.  My Three of Cups Reversed moment was the realization that this friendship wasn't a good fit for my life.   Of course, to help memorize tarot, keep practicing tarot. As you listen to these three-minute lessons, you will consistently remember the symbolism that applies across different cards in the deck. Thank you for listening. First, let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then the meaning when reversed. The Two of Cups upright represents harmony, partnership, and mutual love or respect. It's a card that speaks to deep emotional connections, often symbolizing romance, friendship, or collaboration where both parties are equally invested. When reversed, it can indicate disharmony in relationships. You may be experiencing misunderstandings, conflicts, or a lack of emotional balance with someone close to you. The reversed Two of Cups often points to a period of tension between people. Unresolved issues may be causing problems. This card encourages you to address these issues directly rather than avoiding them so that they can be fixed and everyone can move forward. Next, let's discuss how to read the Two of Cups reversed in a reading. Here are a few scenarios. The surrounding cards assist the tarot reader with the context. When the Two of Cups reversed appears in a reading, it's often a sign that something in the relationship needs attention. This card invites you to examine where things may be out of balance and to ask the querent to take steps to repair the connection. It may also signal when the querent has been giving too much emotional energy without receiving enough in return.  In that case, the Two of Cups asks that you set boundaries and prioritize your emotional well-being. Let's talk about ways to memorize the Two of Cups Reversed.  It is helpful to think of a situation in my life that I can tie to the card.  For example, my reversed Two of Cups Reversed moment is remembering when my husband and I disconnected.  It happened when we didn't make the time for a genuine connection, and one of us was trying to get the attention of the other.  It may be deadlines at work for me and work travel for him.  The imbalance can wear us down, and then things get tense.  Thankfully, it rarely lasts long before we are upright again. Still, it surprises me how too much distance can change our dynamic.   Of course, to help memorize tarot, keep practicing tarot. It’s a card of new beginnings in the emotional realm, often signaling an opportunity for deep connections, spiritual growth, or creative expression. When reversed, it suggests that this flow of emotions is blocked. You may feel disconnected, emotionally drained, or struggling to express yourself. The reversed Ace of Cups often indicates a need for internal healing. It may indicate that you’re holding back your emotions or finding it difficult to connect with others on a deep level. This card encourages you to take time for self-care, reconnect with your emotional needs, and address any issues or unresolved pain.Next, let's talk about how to read the Ace of Cups reversed in a reading. When the Ace of Cups reversed appears in a reading, it’s often a sign that emotional healing is needed. You may be feeling emotionally drained, disconnected, or closed off. The reversed Ace of Cups invites you to open your heart and allow healing through self-care, therapy, or deeper introspection. It can also indicate a need to be fulfilled in your relationships or creative endeavors. Perhaps you’re pouring your energy into something but not receiving the emotional nourishment you need. This card encourages you to assess where your emotional energy is going and to make changes if necessary. Let's talk about ways to memorize the Ace of Cups Reversed. It is helpful to think of a situation in my life that I can tie to the card.  For example, my reversed Ace of Cups Reversed moment was feeling emotionally drained and disconnected from someone I was with as a young adult.  We were together for seven years.  We were in love, but a bad match for many reasons that don’t matter when you’re young.  The differences became an issue a few years in, but the memories of the first few years kept us trying to resolve it.  I also believe that when I was young, I wondered if this was my last chance.  When the relationship eventually ended, the healing I needed took place.  I was more in tune with how I wanted to be treated and understood my boundaries better.  When I met my husband, I was ready to invite my match into my life, and I knew what I wanted and didn’t want. This card reminds us that emotional healing and self-love are essential for a fulfilling life and that it’s okay to take time to reconnect with our hearts.Of course, to memorize taro, keep practicing taro. First, let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then the meaning when reversed. The King of Pentacles upright is a figure of success, wealth, and stability. He represents the ability to build a solid foundation, create abundance, and lead others with wisdom and generosity. When reversed, this card suggests that you may be handling power, finances, or responsibilities in an imbalanced way. You might be overly focused on material success, neglecting other important aspects of life, or struggling to maintain control. The reversed King of Pentacles can indicate a misuse of resources or a lack of integrity in handling wealth or authority.Next, let's talk about how to read the King of Pentacles reversed in a reading. When the King of Pentacles reversed appears in a reading, it's often a sign that you must reevaluate your relationship with success and money. This card encourages you to balance building wealth and maintaining personal integrity and well-being. It may also suggest that you need help with leadership or control. If you're in a position of authority, the reversed King of Pentacles asks you to consider whether you're being too rigid or controlling in your approach. This card suggests that loosening your grip on control could lead to better outcomes and relationships that are more harmonious. Let's talk about ways to memorize the King of Pentacles Reversed. I find it helpful to think of a situation in my life that I can tie to the card.  For example, my reversed King of Pentacles moment has been recently.  I have learned how much I need control over my environment.  My home falls under management of resources, and we enjoy the tranquility of a rural setting and the quiet nature of our home.  There are just the two of us, and we do not have cable TV in the house. We sit down occasionally to watch a movie together on Netflix or Amazon Prime.  Our home is quiet.  This summer, we have had three rounds of company back to back, over five and a half weeks.  And truthfully, it has been wonderful.  Friends and family that we love have been joining us in our space, and we have been dining together, sightseeing, and visiting.  As I write this, we are at the end of a three-week visit with my husband's family from Germany.  They are lovely, and we have had a lot of fun together.  However, I have found myself in a King of Pentacles reversed because I cannot get a plan nailed down with this group.  I have had to manage my need to control the plan and be flexible around meals and non-stop noise. I don't need to control this group, but as the weeks have progressed, I am improving at turning my King of Pentacles upright, as it has been a pleasure to be with them.  However, when I am hungry and can't reach a consensus, I need to manage my stress and remind myself that I will not starve if we wait. This card reminds us that letting go of control and going with the flow will lead to better outcomes. Of course, to memorize tarot, keep practicing tarot. As you listen to these three-minute lessons, you will consistently remember the symbolism that applies across different cards in the deck. First, let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then the meaning when reversed. The Queen of Pentacles upright is a nurturing, practical, and grounded figure. She represents stability, the ability to care for others, and the balance of home and work. When reversed, the Queen of Pentacles suggests this balance may be incompatible. You might be neglecting your needs in favor of caring for others, or you may struggle to manage the demands of your personal and professional life.Next, let's talk about reading the Queen of Pentacles in a reading. When the Queen of Pentacles reversed appears in a reading, it's often a call to prioritize your self-care. You may be overextending yourself in your efforts to care for your family, home, or work responsibilities, and it's taking a toll on your mental or physical health. This card encourages you to take time and balance giving and receiving. It may also indicate that you're struggling with organization or feeling scattered. Suppose you've been neglecting your daily routines or feeling out of control with your finances or home life. In that case, the reversed Queen of Pentacles invites you to refocus and bring more structure to these areas. For example, my reversed Queen of Pentacles moment was realizing how fast and furious I was running until I left the city and moved to a small town. I had years of saying "yes" to all kinds of commitments for both my contract business and events thrown by my network. I was unwell for about a year when I moved to rural BC.  I was getting sick more often and never really felt right, even when I was well.  I believe my mental health and physical health both crashed as soon as I had the chance.  I was so busy with commitments that I didn't listen to my body.  I just kept pushing and kept moving.  I went from the stable and reliable queen of Pentacles to a flaky, forgetful, and ill person for about a year.  Thankfully, that season has passed, but I believe it was the compounding stress of my lifestyle in the city, and I needed to focus on myself and my health. Thank you for joining me in exploring the reversed Queen of Pentacles. I use the Rider Waite Tarot if you would like to view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring the Knight of Pentacles, focusing on reversals.First, let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then the meaning when reversed. The Knight of Pentacles upright is known for being diligent, responsible, and dedicated to the task. He represents steady, reliable progress and a strong work ethic. This particular Knight stands firm for whatever is in their higher good.  They are the only Knight not in motion. When reversed, that sense of duty may have turned into stagnation, lack of motivation, or becoming overly focused on routine tasks at the expense of growth. The reversed Knight of Pentacles can suggest feeling stuck in a rut. Perhaps you are putting in the effort but aren't seeing the progress you desire.  You also may have become so focused on perfection that you've lost sight of the bigger picture.Next, let's discuss ways to approach this card in a reading. When the Knight of Pentacles reversed appears in a reading, it's often a signal to break out of a stagnant routine. It's time to get your progress back in motion again.  Otherwise, it may be time to reassess your goals or your approach. Sometimes, it may be a message to balance work and rest. Suppose you've been pushing yourself too hard. In that case, the reversed Knight of Pentacles urges you to slow down, reassess your priorities, and find ways to work smarter, not harder. Productivity should balance self-care and creative renewal.Remembering tarot cards helps when I can relate one of my experiences to the card. For example, my reversed Knight of Pentacles moment came when I was working overtime without pay to meet deadlines. I was not authorized to do overtime, and I was not charging my client for extra time.  I was trying to keep up with the workload and not create tension with my client.  I was eager and gung ho to please, and they were happy with the content I was creating.  However, they did not have the budget to give me the time needed to do it without working around the clock.  Ultimately, I burned out, and my dedicated Knight of Pentacles approach eventually reversed.  As time goes on, I am better at managing expectations when deadlines are unrealistic.  But that was not always the case.  I have a stellium in Capricorn, so I take my work and reputation very seriously, which can sometimes create a lack of balance.Thank you for joining me in exploring the reversed Knight of Pentacles. This card reminds us that while hard work is valuable, it's just as important to stay flexible, avoid burnout, and be open to new approaches. Of course, to memorize tarot, keep practicing tarot. First, let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then the meaning when reversed. The Page of Pentacles upright represents ambition, curiosity, and a desire to learn and grow. It means new opportunities, particularly in career, finances, or personal growth. The reversed Page of Pentacles suggests that this enthusiasm and potential are blocked. It can signal a lack of focus, procrastination, or a failure to follow through on plans. The reversed Page of Pentacles may highlight a period where you feel scattered, unsure of your direction, or struggling to turn your ideas into action. You may be excited about new possibilities but need more discipline or practical steps to make them happen. Next, let's discuss ways to approach this card in a reading. When the Page of Pentacles reversed appears in a reading, it's a sign to evaluate your current approach to learning, growth, or career development. This card serves as a reminder that ambition alone is not enough. You need focus, desire, and discipline to succeed. It may also indicate you need to be more inspired or connected to your long-term goals. Perhaps you've started something but have lost interest or motivation. The reversed Page of Pentacles encourages you to reignite your passion and reconnect with your purpose or to let go of pursuits that no longer resonate with you.Remembering tarot cards helps when I can relate one of my experiences to the card. For example, my reversed Page of Pentacles moment came to me during some small business startups. I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do.  For example, I bought a gift basket business in 2015 called BeautyGram. I was an enthusiastic customer for a few years before it went up for sale.  I already had Carrie's Closet, so I had a complete eCommerce setup, process, and warehouse space.  The truth is that I preferred buying BeautyGrams over delivering them. I found it a high-pressure business because I was relying on couriers or Mail Services to ship the boxes across North America, but I had little control over the exact time that the package would be delivered.  After about a year, I was in a Reversed Page of Pentacles scenario.  I decided to sell the business, and an amazing woman who worked with me in Carrie's Closet and BeautyGram wanted to buy it.  It was great learning, but I am glad I sold the business and learned more about what I liked and didn't like with respect to work.Thank you for joining me in exploring the reversed Page of Pentacles. I use the Rider Waite Tarot if you would like to view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring the Ten of Pentacles, focusing on reversals. First, let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then the meaning when reversed. The Ten of Pentacles upright is a card of legacy, family, and long-term financial stability. It speaks to building a foundation that benefits you and future generations. The reversed Ten of Pentacles suggests that disruptions may occur in these areas, whether related to family conflicts, challenges around wealth, or a lack of security in planning for the future. It can also indicate tension around financial matters, inheritance, or long-term planning, where goals and values are not aligned.Next, let's discuss ways to approach this card in a reading. When the Ten of Pentacles reversed appears in a reading, it's often a sign that something is not aligning with your long-term goals or vision. This card encourages you to step back and assess what needs to change. It's time to address these areas before they cause bigger problems. It may also indicate a shift in your values. The traditional ideas of success, such as wealth, status, or family expectations, no longer resonate with you. The reversed Ten of Pentacles asks you to consider whether your current path genuinely aligns with your values or if it's time to redefine your version of success.Remembering tarot cards helps when I can relate one of my personal experiences to the card. For example, my reversed Ten of Pentacles moment was coming to the realization that my values did not align with my current situation any longer. Before I met my husband, I was chasing career goals. My aspirations were to create as much wealth as I could with the skills that I had. I needed to take care of myself as a single person. If I could travel a bit, it would be a bonus. When I met my husband, my thinking changed. I also started having some health issues in my forties.  There are no setbacks yet, thankfully, but I now have health conditions that need management.  My past Ten of Pentacles goals did not align with my current health situation or the fact I am now married, so I felt I was in a Ten of Pentacles reversed scenario.  I adjusted my goals to ensure that I am working on retiring and considering my working income in the event of any health changes.  My health is stable, but running into chronic conditions brought to light that health problems may disrupt my financial plan, and could also impact my husband. I did not want to create a situation where he needed to work harder should I need unplanned time off work, or if anything happened to my income. I decided to build a passive income online with my skills, to build some protection.  And thank you to those of you who follow my podcast, as this is a part of my journey to create security.Thank you for joining me in exploring the Ten of Pentacles reversed. This card reminds us that while financial stability and family legacies are important, they must align with our values and personal goals. Of course, to memorize tarot, keep practicing tarot. As you listen to these three-minute lessons, you will consistently remember the symbolism that applies across different cards in the deck. Thank you for listening.
